To some extent I think it is due to the fact that media can be censored and manipulated. The masses can be swayed to "decide for themselves" based on facts they are given.

as long as the leaders are voted in by the public it could be believable to hope for a velvet glove.
but as long as a voting public are shammed by Evil influences that PAY to put presidents into office and power and freedom is turned into bondage and slavery, than indeed there is a dictatorship who should not be alive to rule the world.

it simply comes down to this there are a variety of political systems that work so beautifully in theory however once human nature comes into the equation the core values of the systems are undermined by the greed of those in control of the system .
