That we have the right NOT to be offended? Offenses come all the time. How we handle those offenses is what builds character. So when did Americans get the idea that we have the right not to be offended? When did we decide that we'll scream injustice every time someone says something to us that we don't like?
I'm a white christian male, I'm offended all the time! I'm constantly told that I'm racist, sexist, and intolerant simply because of the demographic I'm apart of.
Do you think society has become too sensitive?

Garland, that wasn't a very tolerant answer, I am quite offended. :)
As for being a racist, I'm not - never have been, people tend to label you as such if you disagree with concepts such as affirmative action, or race baiting politicians like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

just to clearify, I'm not saying we should just go out and purposely hurt feelings. I do believe we need to treat people with respect. However, I feel too many people abuse the term "offended" as if they have a right not to be. Everyone gets offended once in a while, as long as it isn't something extreme (such as racial slurs painted across walls, or beatings do to religious differences, or sexual advances because of gender) then let it go - its part of life.
