(The reason why I ask is because in Germany it is untaxed and they are trying to get as many people as possible to use it, wheras here you are actually penalized by using straight veg oil, you pay more than the tax on biodiesel...)

because they are trying to encourage you to use electric vehicles which are far better for the environment

£0 road tax, £0 congestion charge, £0 parking & recharging in some districts like Westminster

there was even a report on BBC (not by Top gear fossils of course) on a real performance electric car - go to BBC site & search for electri Lotus,
http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?scope=all&edition=d&q=electric+lotus

Bio-fuels etc are better than fossil, but still produce lots of particulates which kill thouosands each year according to UK cheif scientific advisor, require lots of agro-chemical inputs & farm machiners, transport etc. and of course take up land for growing crops. You choose - food/famine or electric cars/4x4s?
given that most road transport is food it seems silly to grow bio-fuels just so we can truck food around the world.

different than for the glaring part of asking until now taking. you have some subject concerns with oil as bio diesel. a million] as already mentioned, you would be able to desire to clear out it...very intently. this is a sluggish technique, as oil is 'thick'. A cord sieve isn't sufficient. that's not in basic terms sturdy foodstuff bits, yet in addition countless the oil has polymerized for the time of the cooking technique, this additionally ought to be bumped off in any different case it is going to block your gas traces. then you definitely've an argument with the oil being of a intense melting element. in case you have a heat climate its no longer lots of an argument, yet once you reside in a community the place it gets chilly the oil can freeze on your gas equipment....that would get messy. accessible suggestions are a] blend it with customary diesel 50/50 say, that blend is way less probably to freeze, even though it relies upon on how chilly it gets. you will desire to attempt different mixes and flow away them out at nighttime and notice which of them freeze. b] convert the oils into perfect bio diesel, this is a chemical reaction, and does require some kit and costs some thing for the chemicals you %. [you will locate lots of help on line in the thank you to try this.]. So in a heat summer season, supply it a sturdy clear out and you're sturdy to flow. In less warm climes be careful. everybody who says it does not have sufficient octane score is B***S****ing. in basic terms another understand warning, countless the rubber seals interior the gas equipment won't be like minded with bio diesel. that's way less of a concern with in basic terms used oil [no longer somewhat bio diesel], yet would desire to be an argument. it commonly takes time for the seals to be broken, so in case you in basic terms use the 'oil' some circumstances you will desire to be ok. verify with your automobile producer to work out if youe engine is bio gas waiting.

The same reason that any government taxes anything: It provides them with a source of income. In general, the rule is:

If it moves, tax it.
If it keeps moving, regulate it.
If it quits moving, subsidize it.
