180 minutes video cassette in VHS format, was recorded in 1998.
Was playing well till last year..viewing nto clear now...hence I cannot make a copy...what to do? How to recover it's contents?

It might be that the tape is starting to 'soften' or has been exposed to some magnetic field. (near loudspearkers for example)

It will fade eventualy anyway so if it maeas a lot to you then find a company that can get it copied from tape to some other digital format.

They don't last forever, it's magnetic data on film. So what you need to do is take it to someone in town that can digitally transfer the film to DVD. That way you will have as best a copy as you can that will last for much longer if not forever. That's the only way I can think to do it. A professional can clean it up a bit.

Yeah, VHS won't last forever. The longer you store it, the more it wil erode and fade. Get this thing called Tevion Multimedia. It's a cord that hooks up to your VCR and PC, and you can transfer VHS to the computer to burn DVD's.
