Babe, I know exactly what you're going through. After having my two littlies, my periods were catastrophic. I was filling a super tampon and super pad every hour (24/7) for three days straight, before easing off to just a reasonably heavy flow for the next four days.
It was because my hormones were so completely out of whack, and also my iron levels were pretty much zero. When your hormones are out of balance you can build up too much endometrium, which leads to heavy bleeding, etc etc etc.
The mood thing (pmt) is hormonally based too. I was almost homicidal, and that's not a joke. I also suffer from severe post natal depression, bordering on psychosis, so I was pretty scary in the week before my period.
I had my craziness balanced out by a kinesiologist, and in the two months since then I've had no pms whatsoever, and my period is fantastic. I bleed like a normal person for two or three days, then spot for three more, and that's it.
She also put me on a liquid iron supplement, as I was losing clots during my period that were, no joke, bigger than golf balls. It was like pooing out the front. Ugh. You need iron to keep the blood flowing, to stop it clotting.

I've had 3 children and after each birth my body went through a change. What birth control methods are you using? That can definitely be the cause of the heaviness and pain. How long has it been since you had your last child? if not very long, you body may be still adjusting from what it went through. I recoomen also that you sea a GYN, but sometimes they are stumped and dont know how to help you. Been there-done that! Dont get discouraged if the dr cant help-just keep searching. You will find an answer.

Oh, for your IBS problem: take 2 tablespoon of applecider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of pure honey each morning with 2 ounces of warm water before breakfast and your IBS should be history!!!!

Like others have said go see your GYN.
I am and was not pregnant, but when I first started my period the pain was horrible and I was heavy bleeder. My period last for 4 months at a time. Your GYN probably would do what mine did for me...he will put you a birth control pill to regulate your period and they believe it takes some pain away (wasn't true for me), so they also gave me a stong pain killer.
It may take awhile to get you back on track but it is worth it. Good luck!

ask your gynecologist about menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding) and having an Intrauterine Device (IUD) fitted. That is very good at reducing the amount of bleeding, it may also relieve some of the associated pain.

Another bonus of the IUD is that it is a contraceptive device, not that you need it thought.

For further information refer to the manuscript by Hurskainen titled "Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system in the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding". published in the Current opinion in obstetrics & gynecology journal

You really need to have this looked at. It could be that you have Endometriosis or cysts. Go to your Gyno asap. All the best for the future!
