..otherwise known as the Elvis - when you're up at height (ie: when rock climbing), and you get into a certain position you get this involuntary and uncontrollable shake in your leg. What causes it?

Before anyone says it's fear - no it's not. Fear is wetting yourself. Disco legs happens even to seasoned climbers .

Off balance without a good foot placement, sometime muscle tiredness contributes (you need much more stability in this instance) Basically it causes a muscle spasm and it wont relieve until you adjust you centre of gravity, even then it can take a bit to stop the neurones firing. Odd when you follow the brains logic here, I'm in a dangerous situation, I need to be more stable, I know Ill twitch continually until its safe again, I mean surely it could just live with it for a second or two

I would guess a pinched nerve, or maybe Disco Stu is contagious.

you are out of balance, so all your muscles are under tension, with you none of your weight absorbed through your bone structure

you can induce it, to show people how it comes on, then you simply shift your centre of gravity, normally over one of you feet and it is solved
