I'd say not to listen to typical female role you might get on this forum but to think more like a man on this one. I myself like women to cut the bs and come up like a person with some initative and common sense and directly say something. It's a bold move that when you think about it is not all that bold at all- but simple yet powerful.
Dont come on here asking questions and trying to be so damn mysterious about it; just walk up to the guy and say something. I absolutley love it when a girl forgoes all the nosense and just talks to me like another human being. Give him that respect, and you can't do wrong

First establish some eye contact. Look at him, show him your smile. I can´t imagine that a guy will not recognize this.

say hi to him whenever you walk past each other and if he says hi back carry the conversation on by asking 'how are you' or 'how are things going?' these should be good conversation starters... so go for it!!
