I am traveling thru Dallas and Los Angeles en route to Manila and beyond. Need to buy an engagement ring and would like it to be a one carat solitaire (Round-Brilliant or Princess). Don't really care if it is certified or not. My options are:

1) Jewelry Exchange, Dallas
2) Jewelry District, Los Angeles
3) Somewhere in the Philippines
4) Your Suggestion Here...

Ideas, pros, cons?

Best prices seen for a decent ring of this type?

Thanks...

I am a semi - retired jeweler..diamonds??? Well, I sold thousands in my 32 years and not 1 time did I say "this is a GOOD INVESTMENT" diamonds are not a good investment. I told people the truth and made a nominal profit on each sale. I SUGGEST you by from an EBAY site which has good feedback and you pay thru PAY PAL you can't get the shaft as you can in a "brick and mortar store." I also suggest a 1 carat "radiant cut" like a princess with "clipped corners" so the diamond is setting in a more secured head.If you want a round stone get a 6 prong die struck head in 14k white gold...( white gold is harder than yellow) a platinum head costs like 3 times a gold one costs . OK. as for color..."def"ghi''[ or jk??? chose an "i" color..still white and not a hint of yellow.....clarity...Si1 ...or better...do not get an "enhanced stone" stick with a natural one with no doctoring...ON TODAYS MARKET...I am not selling anymore but i still watch the market each day.....PRICE...ebay is the best...for $1,600-2,000 will get you a killer diamond which would set u back $4,500 -6,000 in a retail outlet. Thnaks for your question and please wait until after xmas to make the purchase...my suggestion 1ct radiant 'I' color and Si1 clarity. If u go to L.A. Hill Street is the center..but, u get what u pay for there.....eBay is great..trust me.

I personally think any place like Tiffany's where you are paying for the name of the store is a bad choice. Especially since you want something so simple (not to say solitaire's arent beautiful - Im just saying you can get that setting (i.e. the same ring) elsewhere cheaper).

I have never been to any of those places so I cannot comment on them, however, I had a friend who went to bluenile.com and got a GIA cert ring there for a good price. I know some people dont like to buy something so expensive online, but you should at least go to a web site like that to see if the jewelry store is ripping you off. Kind of like getting the KBB on a car.

-Side note, I also wouldnt go to ebay...those are the rings of failed marriages! I dont believe in ghosts, but I dont care if you call me superstituous...there is just something not right about that.

first of all, screw Tiffany unless you just like paying WAY more than is necessary. We got wonderful service at the Jewelry district in Los Angeles, however it hopes to know a little bit. Make sure you know the differences between platinum and white gold (weight, coloration) and what prices avaerage for each...I wasn't concerned with the diamond certification either, but you should know how to spot a fake. The price for the ring will vary significantly with the diamond grade and type of precious metal used. Check www.jewelryexchange.com for ball park figures.

You need to know a little bit since I assume you will not be in a position to return or exchange easily.

good luck

LA is going to have the most expensive selection...but don't confuse high cost with high quality. Dallas is going to be the next most expensive, just because it too is a city. I'm guessing that the Philippines will have the highest quality at the lowest cost.

Although you don't care if it is certified, be warned...an uncertified diamond could be trouble. If it doesn't come with a certification, then you never know where it came from and who had it before it got sold...blood diamonds are out there and should be avoided.

In tinnitus, the sounds a person hears are actually perceptions. Since there's no actual source, they are often referred to as "phantom noises". I read that about 8% of all people in the US suffer from tinnitus so you are not the only one who hears these strange noises.

Tinnitus is actually not a disease. It is actually a symptom of a problem that is rooted deep, somewhere within your body. The problem could be a simple one like an infection in the ear, or even simpler, such as ear wax. Just clear the wax and get the infection treated, and the noises could go away. In some people, it could even be the result of a side-effect of a drug they took. Or it could be more complicated.

If you want to know more about this condition and wnat to learn how to solve naturally your problems with these annoying noises you should read this ebook: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

It helped me a lot.
