why are people so concerned over the rights of people that have murdered or raped, people are concerned about their humanity, when that person wasn't concerned regarding the rights of the victim.

I agree with several above... The prisons are TO much lke a day spa. I believe if you are in prison you should be locked in a cell with no "exersice" no Tv no outside contact. I think they have lost thier rights when they broke the laws of course I mean the big laws such as rape and murder as explained in the question. If prison was truly not a social place. I agree they wouldn't like being there so much. People brag about prison all the time Do the crime pay the time. If they get out of line in prison and disrrupt lock them in a smaller cell for a period of time with a lil window to the corridor if they still are disruptive then lock them in a even smaller cell with NO window ect ect until they behave. No reprieve also is a good idea... NO parol...they get 25 years they serve 25 years no less no more!!!! wierd how child molesters and rapists get out after 2 to 4 years on good behavior seems like they are the ones we want to keep away more than the people that steal money to pay for diapers for their babies and they have to serve 5 to 10 minumum.... interesting where the laws ethics lay.

Because what the general public doesn't realize that many people who are in prison are NOT there for rape or murder. Many people are in prison because they made a mistake and doing their time to learn and move forward in their life.

Many people have no clue what really goes on in the prison system. In fact I had no idea until my husband went in due to a probation violation. Originally he was sentenced as a 17 year old because he had his mother's prescriptions with him that he was bringing home to her from the pharmacy. Then was released and put on probation. He was arrested one night and the police released him because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Because he was arrested he had a probation violation, even though he did nothing wrong. Now he is serving 2-7 years.

Currently he needs open heart surgery or he will die and the prison isn't doing anything. Many things goes on in the prison that many people have no idea about! Certain things, such as medical attention, food and clothing should be provided.

Inmates are humans. Many of them made a bad mistake and paying for it. We have prisons to help punish people who made a mistake. Some people should be in longer than others like a child molester. One person I know is in prison because a man was raping his aunt and he beat up the guy. Another person is in prison because he drove without a license. Why don't the prison make adjustments in punishments to those who deserve it, instead of wasting tax payers money?

Innocent until pr oven guilty is not the case. Your are guilty and you and your attorney have to show "us - the law," that you are innocent. How do distinguish between who should have rights and who shouldn't? Believe me they will get what is coming to them, whether the court decides or God does. Everyone, gets what is coming to them in some form or fashion. We have rights and unless we use them, the Government will take those away. I have been a victim of crimes and I have done some things that I'm not proud of, but let everyone have an equal chance of regardless of their crime. Sending people to prison isn't always the right thing to do, but if you want to make a difference then, help those in need so that they won't become a victim.

Well because they have rights to according to the law. There is also rights for the victims, and according to the law can be compensated by law in fines to the victims right law. There are support groups you can find to help anyone in need to help the victim who is intitled to any compensation. I don't know if justice is fair in the rights of criminals, but that is what the law calls justice for all.

I asked a similar question. Got some answers. But basically the question needs to be repeated daily, just to spread the concern.

My view: In our (human) need to be seen as fair and free, we pass laws that isn't compatible with our genetic make-up.

This problem exists worldwide.

would it seem fair or reasonable if the judge behaved in the same manner as the murderer or rapist. i would say not- it is the line that separates us form them, the ability to show reason, compassion, forgiveness and if necessary punishment as befits the crime but not in an ad hoc lawless way- it would tar everyone with the same brush. if the system acted as brutally as the murderer how would you ever distinguish right from wrong??

It just shows how warped the American sense of justice has become. I'd day lets place our concern on victim's rights.

Because we are only as honorable as the care with which we treat others. Just because criminals have no honor, does not justify joining their ranks with the way in which we treat them.

Because regardless of what they have done, they still have certain constitutional rights that have to be protected. We can't selectively chose which rights we have and which ones we don't.
