I saw a guy like that yesterday. I thought he was a street preacher, and he caught the holly spirit. My wife corrected me that he was actually a crazy homeless man.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

It is hard to explain indeed but, the shaking and stuff is feeling the spirit move through that person and the speaking in tongues to god is because God can understand that and the devil can not! Read the bible there is talk of such things happening! You have to believe what you feel and all I know I believe only because I have seen such stuff and it is real not ...fake!

Speaking in tongues is only applicable under very rare circumstances and that wasn't it. The person who is speaking must not act differently or make a conscience effort to speak anything other than their own language. There must be someone in the audience or group of people who speak the language and understand it. My Pastor has 4 brothers, 2 of them are missionaries in the back end of Africa. They were visiting one Sunday and played the "speaking in tongues" gag on him while he was giving his sermon. So that is when he clarified this speaking in tongues thing.

Well, the whole glossolalia thing is peculiar.
And EVEN if we accept the biblical story of it, there a big problem with the people who claim that modern folks are actually doing it.
Acts 2:5-11
Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs -- we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" (NIV)
As described in Acts, what's going on is that every person who was there heard THE SAME THING, each in their own native language.
There was no interpreter required.
If, then, current members of churches where they "speak in tongues" were being blessed by the "Holy Spirit" in the way that the bible describes, a German speaker would hear the message in German, most Americans would hear it in English at the same time, and so on. They could each write down what they heard, and it would be the same.
But what actually goes on is that the person speaks unintelligible gibberish that has to be "interpreted" by one of the clergy.
Paul also talks about "speaking in tongues", but some of that is just Paul bragging ( "I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all" 1 Cor 14:18) and he further says that this speaking in tongues is speaking to God, NOT to men (1 Cor 14:2).
So, taking Paul as the authority (as most Christians do for nearly everything) the clergy of "tongues" churches who translate the gibberish that emotionally overwrought folks "speak" into messages to the other attendees are absolutely wrong.
*********
Now, I'm not going to say that a state of ecstasy cannot be achieved in which words become irrelevant, in which a person might not just make sounds to express him- or herself.
But, the "tongues" churches strike me as manipulation, pure and simple, even if well-meaning.
***********
Also, this phenomenon isn't restricted to Judaism or Christianity.
But Christians would undoubtedly reject as "holy" the glossolalia attributed to the priestesses at the Oracle at Delphi, and I suspect that the Coptic Gospel hymn in nonsense syllables of vowels would also be regarded with skepticism.
Which, of course, would simply be another example of "But it's different when WE do it".

So because you don't understand something it must be from the devil.. how original and such a profound conclusion based on...oh that's right based on nothing. God is original and you don't like it because you can't keep up...it offends most Christians too but that's what I like about Him...always full of surprises.

Could you overgeneralize more?
a) Most Christians don't speak in tongues.
b) Some satanists mutiliate, torture, and kill people as an act of worship to Satan. (There are serious problems with Satanic cults just south of the U.S.-Mexico border)

i don't want to comment on this matter due to the fact that my intellect is limited to human intelligence. what if it's of God's then, isn't it more scary to commit sin against the Holy Spirit? anyway, as i've said, i'm not sure how that comes about, but i'd rather stay away from topics like that until i'm sure what's it all about.

and while they're at it, they could hand out icons of a dead guy nailed to a stick - and advocate rituals that "drink his blood" and "eat his flesh."
