Yes my moms cat once brought a live rat into the house and my mom screamed drop it Bootsie drop it. Well that was the first time Bootsie ever listened because she dropped it and it went running under my bed and my mom went screaming the other way. To make a long story short my dad put down a humane rat trap with cheese in it and within an hour the rat was in the trap and dad took him outside and let him out in the woods.

RIP Bootsie- our little mouse catcher. She lived to be 19 years old and 22 pounds.

Yes.
And a live chipmunk.
And 3 live baby bunnies.
Untold numbers of baby birds.
Four live blue-tailed skinks.
Mice.

I caught the cat bringing in the present before entry to the house for all but the chipmunk, and was able to prevent entry. That chipmunk which came in stayed for 4 days running to and fro (couldn't batch the bugger and I tried) before it exited out the door I left open, to encourage its leaving. I now check mouths before cats come in the door -- we had a baby bunny about 4 months ago, trembling and terrified on the front porch because my little Mags brought her home. The bunny just didn't realize all Mags wants to do is play nicely with her (never any wounds given). She's really a gentle cat who just likes other animals to play with.

Yes my cats have brought in all kinds of thins from birds to rats. It's his present for you. It is his way of saying thank you don't want share some rat with me. All he is looking for some praise from you because he loves you. I wouldn't complain because he is keeping down the population of rats and other critters for you.

Yip, i have 2 black cats and they have both brought in several birds and a few mice which i thought were presents, although when i tried to take the bird which was still alive away from my cat, my cat growled at me and ran away with the bird still in ts mouth!!!! the poor bird was still trying to struggle away and as for the mice they were still running around my house, so i werent sure whether i had mice or whether my kitties had brought them in. Strange but true!

Rats no - not yet anyway thank God! Mice, birds and, and this wins hands down, a BAT! I've always wanted to see a bat up close but not a dead one on it's back with it's feet in the air on my kitchen floor at 6.15am when I get up! First time she bought a mouse in was when I was showing the house to prospective buyers... she dropped it at the viewers feet and the woman was terrified when she realised it wasn't a toy! The man ended up clearing it up for me...

Yes, loads. Try stamping on its head (the rat, not the cat). We've also had a rabbit romping round the floor in the middle of the night ....

My cat never brought in a rat but a baby rabbit. The kids came in the kitchen and told me a hamster was running loose in the living room. I told them it was impossible for a hamster to be in the living room, no one we knew had a hamster. I went in to look and it was a baby rabbit. She caught it in a corn field close to our house.

A lot moles, mice (which we have to catch and release in the garden) and birds (until the kitty collar got fitted with a bell). My previous cat used to bring back live rabbits, he tried to bring back a magpie ( but got mobbed) and a squirrel. They'll go for anything that moves!

Not a rat but I have had mice, Voles and even a toad, all alive. You wouldn't believe the noise a toad makes when its being attacked by a cat!! Its not what you expect at all from a toad.
