When it comes down to it, it is my rear end on the line and not theirs, so my soul would be my own concern anyway.

It is the duty of believers to spread their faith? Ask once and be done with it then. don't get pushy with it since there's no money at stake anyway (or is there?)

Good Grief! I never meant to imply that all Godly folks worried about such issues. Just to clarify- some worry about saving other's souls and some don't. If what I wrote does not apply to you, feel free to go on about your business

You just don't understand. It's like a game show. For every non-believer they convert, they get a token. Then when they get to the Pearly Gates, St. Peter or the Easter Bunny or whoever counts up each person's tokens and whoever has the most gets the best campsite.

So, you see, it's not just YOUR rear end on the line, it's all about getting the best campsite and making you grit your teeth in the meantime.

It is very disturbing to a person who believes that if they convince you to follow their path you will avoid eternal damnation. They don't want the guilt of having watched you drown without throwing a rope. Having said that though, making their belief available and known to you should be done like Jesus did it. You tell people once and if they are not interested you keep walking. God has ways and means to communicate without the need for pushy religious souls. I must admit though even new Amway converts get on my nerves in the same way which reflects badly on the more mature ones. At least religious ones are driven by love mostly rather than material objectives but in my view they do more harm than good being pushy.

They might have been led to believe that it's their responsibility to make you believe their particular faith over another, and that if they fail they're responsible for whatever "evils" you might commit. But, whether you believe in God or not, if it's true that all souls go to God, that's exactly where you'll go, and He hasn't made it so that you must believe in Him at all .. we're all given free will and learn from our experiences and some people may never hear about God in their lives at all while others are constantly bombarded with pressure to believe in something they see no proof of. Either way, you've either been a good person or you haven't and I'm sure God will forgive anyone for not being able to convince another of His being, just as I'm sure He'll forgive your sins whether or not you knew He exists or not because Jesus paid that price with His own life.
Believing God exists might help a person choose not to do wrong to others though or it could make no difference whatsoever as even satan believes God exists .... LOL

It might be a good idea to let them know if you believe it's true that there's not a damn thing they can do to force their belief on you but ... "what is it exactly you're afraid my behavior will be that will make me unwelcome?" ... and if you're in disagreement with what they say, just give them a wide berth .. if you agree, you should be able to get along fine without being "brainwashed" if that's how you see it.

Religion is a personal subject and if you are going to discuss it amongst others then you will receive feedback. If you have a lack of faith then you dont believe in souls anyway. I suggest not letting people know your feelings on the matter. It's not their business and their religion is not yours. You know the saying "don't ask , don't tell?Keep it to yourself if you do not want to hear what they have to say.

I don't know. Maybe for the same reasons that some atheists start foaming at the mouth over the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance?

Criticism happens to everybody.

And you do employ faith. All human belief is based on faith. To not believe in God is to logically have faith that he/she/it does not exist.

It happens to me as well, I was raised first as a Mormon and later as a Catholic, my family is all religious with one exception MYSELF and they keep trying to make me believe the same way they do. Fortunately I came from a Christian background, if I was from a Muslim background, I could not make my believes public knowledge without getting punished.

Possibly Killed.

I believe it boils down to a life long indoctrination process, people are taught to think one way from very early in their lives and to contradict that, is to question their entire existence.

Because their gods order them to spread the word and collect souls. It helps to keep the collection plates full on Sunday. It's also about control, and in not a small way, power. It's also fun to make someone listen to you and to be able to make them believe what you do. It challenges them when we tell them to mind their own business and not worry about our souls.

Because the Bible teaches us to gather together and witness to others so they might also come to Jesus. I certainly don't want anyone to not find Jesus because I chose to keep my mouth shut. I would answer for that when I come to God Almighty. I want everyone to know God and to know Jesus on a personal level. I'm concerned for your soul. I certainly mean you no harm. God wants you to have everlasting life with Him. If there is any way I can help, I do want to.

It is a duty of the believers to spread their faith. on a more bigger perspective, they want to make sure that their religion will not cease to exist in the lives of future generations.

No one should feel they hav the right let alone obligation to force their religious believes on others. You have no obligation to the world other than to look after yourself and do not become a danger to society.

Do I come up to you and tell u not to believe?
