I have a Philips 32 inch LCD HD ready TV. Recently when I switch it on in the morning I get sound but no picture. I have to switch it on and off 2,3,4 times before I finally get a picture.
If I switch it off after watching it for a few hours then switch it back on a couple of hours later it is OK, it seems only to not work after being off a long peroid of time.
Any suggestions to what I can do will be welcome.
The TV is only a few months old I think the model number is
32PF5520 with freeview

I had a similar issue with a jvc 32 inch lcd where after a long period it would give me a blue screen with sound. I found that if i was on freeview then this would happen but if on the old analogue signal it didnt happen. I am unsure if it is to do with the signal being received via digital and waiting for it to boot up. If in doubt contact the phillips technical support team (phone number should be on the rear of the warranty or instructions) and ask them. The lcd tv's do not have tubes in them so it could be the crystal display needs some warming up before it works. You should of noticed that the tv seems quite warm after using it for over an hour, this is normal for this type of tv and it stays warm for a good few hours after switching it off. This could be why it works straight away if you used it only a couple of hours previously. Hope this helps.

Hmm. Good question. Could it be the lamps in the back or some thing with the little electronics that produce the pixels and picture? If you still have the reciept I'd get a replacement or a refund and try a diff brand tv set. Sounds like Phillips is still working out some kinks on their LCD's.

I have A Philips 37in LCD flat panel. I was having the same issues. I would be just watching TV then it would go black and then sometimes come back on or I would have to press start. I downloaded the latest firmware upgrade for it and the problem has been fixed. So I would go online and thumb drive the upgrade and try that. Note: You have to unzip and drag the unzipped folder to your thumb drive before putting it in the TV to get the software to download.

Something wrong with your TV, If it's just a few month old you can go for warranty claim, my guess is something wrong with the start up process, is it help if you just switch the TV to stand by and not to power off completely?
