It is an urban myth about bananas and chewing gum taking years to digest. Consider the professional athlete, footballer or runner who may eat a lot of bananas each day. if they were to stay in the digestive system where would all the other food be digested? After a month eating bananas the digestive system would be stuffed to overflowing.
Indigestible foods such as chewing gum just passes through the digestive system without breaking down.
i'm not sure whether pepper gets broken down or not but if it doesn't it should pas through the digestive system in about 24 hours, the same as any other food

Humans don't digest pepper... It just passes through the system..
Bananas are digested...good source of potassium, etc...I think chewing gum just passes thru also..

It passes straight through your system. I believe though if it stayed in your system it would take 7 years to digest a whole pepper corn.
