I'm 25, still a virgin. Moreover, I've never kissed a girl before. It's not that I don't want to. No, I actually think about it constantly, but I'm just socially awkward. I think people mention marriage or other things just as an excuse, either to convince others, or sometimes even just to convince themselves. Really, everyone wants the same things, but people who have a hard time pursuing it (and know that it will be a grueling effort) create reasons for their own contentment. I would've gone crazy as a teen if I didn't tell myself that I was remaining abstinent based on moral grounds. Really, it was just because I wasn't the talkative type of guy everyone else was. I'm 25 now and have pushed all excuses aside. Life is meaningless without romance. Not all the distractions and hobbies in the world can compensate. I'm still in the same situation, but I'm trying to change my life. If a person is truly waiting until marriage, more than likely, marriage would've occurred sooner. In any case, if that is the real reason, that is unique- not weird, and commendable. If it's just an excuse, well we shouldn't try to fool ourselves of our real needs, just because it's more difficult for us than for others.

Yep - I've known two or three, for different motivations. The only one I was really concerned for was an aunt who was/is very puritanical about sex and extends her views to those around her (me included). Otherwise; it's unusual, but it's personal choice and I wouldn't worry too much. I just hope that when she marries she finds a good lover and isn't too inhibited to enjoy sex in marriage, but pre-marital virginity is no guarantee of anything there.

It's not all that uncommon. It's just those that can't control their hormones and take to sleeping around think that others who save that special gift for someone special are freaks. Just that their perspective is different. There are still some who believe in the Bible and therefore believe pre-marital sex is a sin.

To Jason N 's answer: Actually ,she's very pretty and has had lots of boyfriends, She just told me that she's waitng for the right guy and obviously that would'nt be you!......You're very ignorant and stupid to make a comment like that about someone you don't know who wants to be different in a positive way--I commend my cousin for having morals!!!!!

Most females with strict relegious and moral upbringings prefer to stay virgin until they get married. It could be true that your relative never have had a sexual intercourse.

yes, i know a person like that, i don't socialize with her that often though
if you are still a virgin at 30 then there is something definitely wrong with you, because in 30 years time you haven't come across a man that was worthy of persuing some kind of relationship with?
no man was good enough?
standards set way too high on that one

She is correct and she should be commended instead of being considered as weird.
If only all women would make men wait, it would weed out the lustful, impatient, horny, perverted and aggressively uncontrolled freaks,...and either bring men up to standard or expose them for they really are.
