OK here is a scientific answer..
Gold is a metallic element with a characteristic yellow color, but can also be black or ruby when finely divided, while colloidal solutions are intensely colored and often purple. These colors are the result of gold's plasmon frequency lying in the visible range, which causes red and yellow light to be reflected, and blue light to be absorbed. Depending on where its found, Gold is generally of a yellow hue. I have seen Nevada gold the color of silver and Black Hills tinted red. The Sierra Gold of 49er fame is the yellowest. Oh, and by the way, the theory of gravity is just that too, the world actually sucks.
