I have kept German Shepherds for 31 years now and about 25% of my dogs have whined, Benson my boy that I lost last year was a 'talker' his entire life! 13 & 1/2 years! and I think he has been reincarnated in my latest b1tch pup (8 months old) as she is very vocal as well, don't worry about your pup unless he is showing signs of any kind of discomfort, he may just be a 'talker', you will get used to it and find yourself having a conversation with him if you are anything like me, my husband thinks I am nuts!

He is whining because he is a puppy and that's what they do at first. Are you spending lots of time with him? Have you taken him to the vet to have all his inoculations and worm tablets and to be checked over? You have to make a lot of fuss over him, remember he is just a baby. It is still strange for him, he is used to being with his mum and the other pups playing all day and he has been taken away from all that to strange people and a strange house. Just give him time, give him lots of play and cuddles and he will soon settle down.

We have a Sheherd puppy & he whines more than any dog we've had. He does it when he wants attention, when he's getting attention, when he wants to go out, when he wants to come in, when he's hungry, when he's just eaten ....... We're just learning to live with it! If you can't live with it, you'll just have to make sure you don't reward him for whining & maybe he'll grow out of it.

THe pup wants attention from you it wants to be loved it might also be pining for it's mum. you need to give it lots of love and attention and affection it will also whine when you go out as it will miss you however this will stop after you have been gone for a few minutes.

He is trying it!!lol!!

they need ALOT of attention German Sheps, they are family dogs, i have one and she is so loving but if you dont give it to her back, they start to whine, or even worse do a toilet somewhere!! They are naughty if you dont put them in their place. You should ignore her/his whines for a couple of weeks if you can and then she/he might stop doing it as much.

Make sure you never reward your dogs whining. In other words don't pay him any attention when he is behaving in this fashion. As soon as he stops whining then go and play with him.

You may want to train your GSD, check out this website http://www.dog-obedience-training-review.com/german-shepherd-training.html

I guess he is still a pup and misses his mum and rest of the litter. Suggest you get a soft toy around his size and a nice basket to curl up in. A lot of cuddles will help bond him to you and he will slowly put his other family to the back of his mind and become a faithful friend to you.

did u give it attention whenever it whines? This will only enforce the whining.

What are you feeding that baby? I suggest you just stay right with him, attention, is the thing right now, until you can put your finger on what the problem is. I' ve seen little puppies like that have worms bad enough to make them whine. GOOD LUCK......................LATER
