you poor thing ! (big hug) some people are very selfish, aren't they ? personally, if i had to break off a relationship with someone, i would definately wait until after new year. things like this give u bad memories that u tend to think about during future xmas times...... it doesn't necessarily spoil future xmases for u, but it does taint them slightly, and make u a little more cynical about everything..... i've been through stuff like that twice. once when i was only 15 (my first boyfriend). he dumped me at the end of november, but i was still upset by xmas time about it all....... and the last time was more recent. (a couple of years ago) i was supposed to be getting engaged. we were in the middle of a busy jewelry shop in the 2nd week of december..... i'd chosen my ring, but when it came time for the guy to hand over the money for it, i turned around, and he'd vanished out of the shop !!! heartless b*stard !!! i felt like such a fool....... still, if i've learnt anything from these experiences, it's that u are better off without them ! if this is the kind of thing that they're capable of, do u really want to have a relationship with them ??? get some of your friends together - go out, have a good drink, and talk to someone about it...... also - i found that it helps if u write down a list of all your ex's bad points - when u are feeling all down and sentemental about everything, look at the list, and remember that u really are better off without them ! take care. try to have a good xmas.

Me and my 1st proper boyfriend who i was devoted to split on xmas eve. The day before we had been so happy, shopping for our turkey and everything but that night i found out he'd been cheating on me...it broke my heart. Try and get your friends around you, next xmas will be happier.

Yes, it's awful. But I suppose it would be worse to be dumped the day after Christmas, when you've spent a fortune on a really nice gift.

I hope you have a good Christmas, despite being dumped.

Not yet but I think that if you really loved your partner it hurts very much no matter xmas or new year. It hurts all year round. Hope you hadn't bought her a present yet.

Its lousy.Put it behind you and look forward .This is a busy time of year so keep going on and do try not to dwell on what might have been We non of us know what is round the corner for us and when you look back in times to come you will see that it will have been for the best

No dude---not me, BUT---------

Christmas is a stressful time even under good circumstances---just ask a cop sometime!

You have to take the Christmas part of out of the picture and do christmas stuff as if you had never met the chick.

It's not quite a sugar coating, but the pill will be easier to swallow that way

the holidays are hard for relationships. every year, i tell myself "no, thanksgiving is bad, his family's here," then "no, finals are coming up, that would be really bad to break up then," then "no, christmas is a terrible time to break it off," then "oh, he'll be so sad on new years when he doesn't have a date...."

my last 3 breakups have happened in the first week of january, when they probably should have happened 5 weeks before that.

be happy she was honest about it, i guess?

sorry, love.
