For my set of clubs. I have an OK set of clubs that are great but my putter is an old heavey one that you use at a putt-putt centre. Its real heavy for a putter and I need a new one.
I dont want a brand new one as that is too much and I need to inprve my game HEAPS before I buy brand new things.
I am looking at buying a half decent putter at a garage sale. What do you think would be a good price for a half decent putter to buy.
And when I get around to selling my old club. Should I try to get 5 buks, or give it away to a charity or for free at the garage sale????
Thanks

how much you pay for a putter new or old is entirely your decision however I would suggest dont be in a hurry to buy. You will find as you play more golf your requirements will change. you can always go to a golf shop and try some on a practice green to give you a better idea about what suits you best

I bought a $15 putter on sale at a department store and it feels like the Lord Himself designed it for me. Only 1 or 2 three putt greens a round these days. Putters, more than any other club are "feel" clubs - very personal. Go to a golf shop that has a little putting green area and try the different putters. Find one that feels right.

Really it does not matter what kind of putter you use. It does matter that you learn the techniques of being a good putter. Being steady and still over your putts; keeping the left hand wrist solid and firm to keep the putter face square to the intended line.
Once you have these down just concentrate on stroking the ball fully toward the target and follow through.
Other than that the putter you choose is because it feels good.

what you should do is go to the store and try as many putters as you can. Find one that you know you can make putts with and that is the one for you. No two putter are the same or at least feel the same

Putting is all feel. My uncle still uses a Bulseye putter (witch looks like the putt-putt putters). Also weight is a personal matter. Some pros actualy put sand or other substance in the shaft of the putter for added weight. Like I said its all a Personal Prefference.

Just go to Kmart or a sporting good store and get a cheap putter that feels right they cost like 25 to 40 bucks putting is all personal although ''its not the arrow its the Indian'' Still more expensive putters are better but you never know.

From personal experience you just have to find one that feels good to you. I used to work for a golf store and took all the new high dollar putters out to test them out, and found that I putted better with a cheap older putter. Find one that feels good to you. The main thing is after you find one that feels good practice.
