love God and still love life, or are you holier than me if I want to be a Christ believer and follower who has casual sex from time to time, smoke a little weed every now and again, have a drink of wine with my meals, and don't go to church every Sunday?
Yet I still send in my tithes and offering, I feed more homeless ppl than you who go to church 4 times a week, I visit the sick, and love my neighbor, honor my parents, and do not judge ppl? What makes you better than me? What makes you better than Atheist? or Muslims? Half of you self proclaimed Christians do not do even 5% of what the bible tells you to do but, you will condemn a gay man who does 99% he simply is a gay man. Sounds like the blind leading the blind to me.

No you dumb ***, I am asking how can you judge a gay man for his sin but you don't judge him according to his works as well, you do not have the right to judge him period according to the bible.

mark g There you go making an *** out of your self by assuming! What I am asking is how can you call yourself a Christian and pass judgment! How can you think of saying, 'Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye

Brad....

Rom 2:1
1 You may be saying, "What terrible people you have been talking about!" But you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you do these very same things.
(NLT)

Rom 2:5-7
5But no, you won't listen. So you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself because of your stubbornness in refusing to turn from your sin. For there is going to come a day of judgment when God, the just judge of all the world,
6will judge all people according to what they have done.
7He will give eternal life to those who persist in doing what is good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

life is about moderation. To much booze, sex, etc is always bad for you. So if you can moderate your habits and still focus on faith, then you are fine.

I cant say why I am better than any other religion, but what I can say is I consider myself a Christian. i do not believe gays are bad, I do not think all other religions are wrong, I do not believe in a literal translation.

I do believe in evolution

But I do think Jesus was the son of God.

I am not a typical Christian but I think that is OK. In the end it is up to you, research and educate yourself. The answer will come to you.

I agree with you. I think it is very important not to judge others because it will send a new believer running away faster than anything else. Yet our churches are riddled with judgmental people as well as bigots and the self righteous. That sounds "judgmental" of me. But it is factual. And something that needs to be addressed in church's across this nation. Judgment is for God and...all sin is equal in the eyes of God. If you feel in the quiet place inside yourself that what you are doing is wrong, then it is probably a sin. Some sins are obvious violations of the teachings of Jesus such as murder. The Ten Commandments are pretty clear. The Ten Commandments don't say thou shall not smoke that is an individual decision to make. Is it based on your personal walk with God.It used to be considered a sin to wear make-up. How would that fly today if you walked in a church went up to the pulpit and said" Hey, all you women out there with make-up on are sinning, and all you men who use products to make your hair look thicker are sinners." There is a point where personal choice is just that. We are made to be individuals God made us that way. He wants out best...But God is not petty.

Careful Brad that last statement sounded pretty judgmental. See How hard that one thing is....because in even saying that I have made a judgement of my own. It is a tough one to stand by. Saying you personally don't judge. That goes for all of us!

Except for the casual sex part you were doing decently.

That may not excude you, but it does leave a blemish.

But that's one between you and God.

Understand it's not about being better, it's about bending or breaking not only the rules of Christianity, but Judaism, Islam and Hinduism. That accounts for 2/3 the world's spirtual views.

In an era in which HIV and Herepes simplex are not curable. Herpes can be transmitted even when condums are used. It is a skin to skin transmission.

Anti-biotics are not what they used to be for STD in the 1960s.

Women generally consider it dehumanising, just like porn and pictures in Playboy.

And all parents consider it taboo for their little girls and boys.

I have yet to see one mom, Christian or otherwise, tell her 13 year old CASUAL SEX IS COOL, GO HAVE SOME.

Most people here would probably have a tizzy if some mom said "I encourage my 13 year old daughter to have all sex she wants and let her do it in her own bed."

Free will, however, people make their own decisions on right and wrong.

People who don't yet truly understand their faith tend to embrace a hard and fast set of rules, fail to notice the ones they break themselves, and then, to make up for their own shortcomings, they come down extra hard on everyone else.

This is the classic log-in-the-eye syndrome, spoken of by Christ.

On the other side of the matter are those who think that God will somehow overlook their sins, because they occassionally manage to do a few good works, or because they claim to have received Jesus as their personal savior.

Neither strategy actually works.

The only workable strategy for Christians is to regularly confess our sins to God ... whatever they are ... ask for his forgiveness, and then make our best effort to avoid doing them again.

Let's all pray that God's mercy exceeds his justice, and that, in the end, love turns out to be more powerful than the world, the flesh, and the devil.

I think most christians think if they go to church on Sunday, and fork over a few bucks, they are good to go! You sound like a good person, and that's more important than those who spout off about "the rules" and don't give a damn about humankind. They are so busy bowing down to some mythical beings, that the most important things are being missed by them. If there is a place where good people go, you'll be at the head of the line!!

I'm an Atheist, so probably not the best to answer this. But anyway, i'll throw in my 2 cents.

It's sounds like you are a much better Christian than all those "holier than thou' fundamentalists.

Answers like "good deeds won't help" always scare the crap out of me. Jesus' basic message was to Love others as yourself. That includes others with all their errors, their mistakes, their things that I maybe might not like, etc, etc, etc.

Seems to me you have understood His message much better than the people who judge others based on His Book.

Please stay you :)

Must be you know millions of Christians since you seem to know how much charity work they do, how much they love their neighbors, how they treat their parents, and how judgmental they are. Actually you seem to be the one that is judge mental, claiming that 95% of all Christians act as YOU say they do. Sounds to me that you are mostly bitter because they do not approve of a Gay lifestyle. In this country we are allowed to believe as we wish remember. That does not mean it is okay only if it meets your approval. Muslims do not approve of homosexuality either. As a matter of fact to the strict Muslim believers it is a capital offense punishable by death. Take that up with Hezbollah, Hamas or the Taliban.

Political statement, not a true question. First, you seek attention by stating you do this or that. Second, you judge other people, I assume because you are gay, as a payback. If you are confident and serve others, then why do you seek approval here? You confess your sins and yet you tell of your generosity. You judge those you fear that judge your sexuality, think about it. Keep up the good work.

You don't sound like a Christian. You sound like someone who believes in God her own way. You have your own ideals. You show your love for God in your own way.
They are not better than you. You are better than them for all the reasons you listed. You don't conform to what the Christian majority does. Its commendable that you take action instead of just sitting in church singing a couple hymns. I'm sure God wants everyone to be like you.
But, of course, in the bible, God does not hold one person higher than another. Love thy neighbor, treat others the way you wanna be treated....blah blah blah
But you know what? I'm not a Christian, so I can say that you're better than them. :) Keep doing what you're doing. Smoke all the weed you want (hell, its relaxing!), have all the sex you want, (it feels great!). We need more people like you on this planet. As long as you're doing your part for the world, I see nothing wrong with having your fun on the weekend.

I'm not any better than anyone else. But, I may lead my life in a
better and more possitive way than other people do. That does'nt
mean that I think I'm better but if you think about it, some of the
folks out here are playing with their lives and that is just something that I won't do. I love my life and I intend to live it the
way that I think is right. No, I would'nt call myself holier than you
or anyone else. I'm just me.
