If you know the exact value of the box density (p) and the volume of the box, easily you can calculate the weight with the following formula:

p=m/v;

where:
p= is the density (kg/m^3, lb/ft^3)
m= mass (kg or lb)
v= volume (m^3 or ft^3)

If you know the area and the thickness then you can calculate the volume of the box - simply multiply area by thickness.

You will also need to know the density - ie how much mass per unit volume. If you know the density you can multiply density by volume to give the weight.

Alternatively, once you have calculated the area if you then weighed the box you can calculate the boxes density by doing mass/volume.

You would have to know the density, as well. Would a box 1' x 1' x 1' and 1" thick made of cardboard weigh the same as a box 1' x 1' by 1' and 1" thick made of lead? No, because they have different densities.

It's not just the surface area you need. It's the actual volume of material. This is dependant upon surface area, thickness, and the way it's put together. Once you determine this, just multiply that by the density of the material.

u need the density of the plastic box.

density = kg/m3

just find out the m3 of the box and u can get the weight of the box.

you should calculate the volume and multiply it with it's density.. you can find the density by dividing the weight with the volume.. so the important thing you have to find out is the density not weight.
