No matter what you like, I would suggest Beijing and Xi'an, simply because you can't go to China without seeing the Great Wall (in Beijing), and the Terra Cotta Warrior (in Xi'an). They are truly the signature landmarks in China and well worth the reputation!

If you are up to the most romantic natural scenery, then go to Guilin which in the south China. Located in subtropical and monsoon zone with warm and moist surroundings, Guilin has very mild and pleasant weather. Guilin is a living canvas of China’s stunning scenery, romantic landscape and is a spiritual land of peace! The hills beyond hills with their reflections in the crystal water are like a fairy land. The green bamboo waves at you in the breeze all the way along the river. The water buffaloes contentedly munching the grass; the ducks swimming along the river; the fisherman fishing or catnapping on the bamboo rafts with his cormorants resting peacefully next to him, it is truly a masterpiece of nature...

If you are up to some adventure, then go to Chengdu. It is close to the Wulong Panda Reserve, where you can really hike into the woods to see the Giant Panda, and even feed them! If you don't mind a little bit cold, then close to Chengdu, you can touch the "Roof of the World" - Tibet! You can visit the Holy City, Lhasa at the foothills of Mt Everest.

If you are up to the history and unique scenery, then go west to the Silk Road! You can start from Xi'an, the starting point of the Ancient Silk Road, and follow the footsteps of the ancient caravans deep into the Gobi Desert! You will see the amazing Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang with the oldest Buddhist Shrines in China and the most extensive and exquisite collections of Buddhist paintings and sculptures in the world! When you arrive in Urumuqi, you will really be surprised by its exotic architecture, extraordinary landscape and the local Uygur people.

If you are up to the dynamic culture and local people, then go to the southwest China. Kunming is famous for its diverse minorities, their vibrant life and colorful traditions. Kunming is also called "Spring City" since it has really mild pleasant weather all year long. It will be a perfect getaway for Winter. If you have time, complete the Shangri-la trip with Dali and LIjiang. Old town Lijiang is really a gem with over 800 years history and original look of its peaceful atmosphere.

There are simply too many options to choose from, it just depends what is your cup of tea!

Hmm... for natural places in the winter season, I suggest you take a trip to Sichuan Province. There are a lot of wild and mountainary scenaries in that province and during winter, the weather is mild and comfortable. Besides, if you like spice/hot food, you are going to love it there... If you find a good local guide, I'm sure they can take you to places to check out the wild pandas in the forest.
