If ur dog does not get dirty often, you should bathe it 4 or 5 times in a year. It might not sound good but BRUSH ITS BODY EVERYDAY with some tick or flea powder, the dog will remain clean all the time.

Its all about the natural oils...
When you wash a dog you wash out the naturl oils in the dogs coat. It takes about 2 days for the oils to restore themselves. It depends on the owner. some people don't care if their dog smells extra doggie and never wash there dogs which is fine. There is the other side of the scale that have ther dog washed every week.. It is up to you I would wash less then once a week for an inside dog and once or twice a month for out side dog. remebr alot of Flea product ege frontline work with the pets oils so by washing your dog you do effect the flea treatment. I only wash my dogs if they are going to a show or have rolled in poo or something really foul!

Dogs and cats fur is very sensitive. They can wash themselves when they need it.
Don't wash your dog more than once every 6 months, It's dangerous to their skin and fur, Washing strips the natural minerals, oils, and texture from their skin, also causing them to become more prone to problems.
The more you wash it to begin with, the more you will have to wash it as time goes by.
My recomendation as someone who has worked with dogs my whole live is as long as he/she doesn't get into anything bad/smelly as heck/dangerous, or doesn't have fleas or ticks, don't wash him/her, leave the dog to do what dogs have been doing since the beginning of time and wash themselves.
If you think that you still want advise from someone else, get a bottle of dog shampoo and read the lables. They all say something along these lines. Be careful, and don't use anything on them but dog shampoo or eggs.

You can bathe a dog as often as you wish, but the main things to remember are to use a gentle shampoo, rinse them very, very well, don't let them outside until they are dry and NEVER get water in a dog's ears.

depend on where u stay and if the weather is cold and dry or humid and hot... at most once a week. unless it has medical skin problems, and vet advised to bath more often.
Bathing too often will remove the natural oil protection on the skin and cause danduff or body odour.

If your dog's hair is dirty with the feces of other animals, you should clean him immediately. But it is not necessary a complete cleansing. You can leave the mud in his hair till it dries, and then brush it out. It's not recommendable to wash the hair frequently, because it eliminates the waterproof natural agents, and tends to tarnish the skin.
