around here vertical installation is $4 sq ft . then you need to charge for the materials your supplying, the time it took you to get the material, your fuel plus your transportation $, any overhead you have, any labor payouts say for a helper. So for an example $4 a sq ft plus 2 hours to pick up materials $50 + transportation say 20 miles $20 .then its not a bad idea to add %20.

$4sq.ft. + $50 + $20 = amount +20%= total

Prices vary by location and product being installed. $5 to $8 a square foot is typical in the northwest U S. If this is new construction without fixtures to work around I would go on the lower side because you don't have to make as many cuts. Be sure to factor in any supplies you provide and extra things like caulk. Are you going to be responsible for extra tile because some will break during cutting and trimming, it is inevitable.

Every area is different. But you need to charge seperately for the mortar and subfloor, those costs are not included in the labor charge. But seperate detailed 'material costs' and should be billed accordingly. Call up several tile places in your area and see what the going rate is. They will want to know the type and size of tile as that can vary the price as well.

At least youre thinking ahead,, its good to know a ballpark amount you can invest in remodeling, because it should increase your homes market value. The price of labor and materials has not gone down, if anything the cost of shipping has increased the cost of materials. Your homes value is based on the market value of your neighborhood, if you already have the best house, the only thing a remodel will do is sell it faster, not higher. There are ways to save money on a remodel, that include using sale appliances with cosmetic blems, painting or refacing existing cabinets. Changing and adding lighting, floors and countertops are elements to invest the larger percentage of budget on, real woodfloors and granite are expected, unless youre in a lower end home. If you want to do a minimum upgrade ask a realtor, otherwise there are kitchen design firms that will help with getting the estimates you will need.
