Now, the shortest way I can think of is to uninstall the darn thing and treat yourself to downloading Open Office at http://www.openoffice.org/ . It comes in for free, it is very similar to word, can open any Microsoft document (except for Access) and leaves you with "clean" word documents. It's your choice, though. I've using nothing but Open Office for 2 years now, without all the kind of problems I used to have with MS' bug-ridden software. Plus the fact that updates are more frequent and more to-the-point than those coming from Microsoft. Again, you choose: either you keep being unhappy with a less-than-satisfactory software you pay for, or you get a free product that does the job much more seamlessly and has more chances to meet industry standards.

Since we don't have any info I would have to just say double click on the icon.
It can be anything from double clicking on the icon to reinstalling since you haven't said what is wrong, when it is wrong, and how it is wrong...or even if it is wrong LOL
