when debating christianity vs. skepticism/atheism
it is noticably more common for a christian to be a little more on the impolite side than for skeptics.
Sure, every once in a while i might see a skeptic get a little harsh but christians get uppity way more often
I have heard a lot of over the line stuff from christians even though the question might have been in earnest and sincere.
I just don't see skeptics personally attack christians like some christians do.
sure, from time to time, an atheist might call christians stupid or retarded on this board, but i see more often this kind of behavior come from christians.
Of course i expect to hear differently from christians on this
but i gonna ask anyway....
Have you noticed the same thing?

true enough, the skeptics are usually here assailing the christian faith, but there is moral reason to.

now that i think about it, one reason why is that skeptics, knowing they have considered these issues more carefully and that they are more intellectually honest, are thusly smug.
it sucks being condesended to by someone who has arguments against your faith that you don't have good answers for.

I sure have. Oh, well, of course there are TROLLS that do their best to make either side look bad, but in terms of genuine people, I have noticed that believers tend to get a little more uppity.

You mean from people other than ME? I don't see that much of it. I don't see anywhere near the posturizing and preaching and threats people talk about. Such as YOU ARE GOING TO HELL, except from a Trolls, who Avatar and Screen name shows them to be a Troll.
I only get ornary when they get ornary are they really lay a dumb set of proofs.
Like ALL criminals are Christians
All WARS are caused by Religion
Any student of war, knows WAR is caused by people who want RESOURCES.
No one has yet to show me ONE WAR in which Jew, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Wiccan, Satanist or other religion has ZOOMED IN, whipped Religion on them and LEFT without taking so much as a souvenir.
If spoils of WAR are taken, that's conquest for property, chattle and resources.
And THAT is why people go to war.
HItler started his war to get back the original GERMANY.
Then he wanted everything else!
Did he want to inject his philosophy on the world, heck yes!
So did Mao (an Atheist), Stalin (an Atheist), Castro (an Atheist).
That's just an aside. The primary reason for invading is people, property, land, agriculture, oil, gold, silver, uranium.
Atheists don't seem to notice that this is been the saga since Genghis, Attyla, Greece, Roman and others.
No one wages a trillion dollar war on a poor country just to whip religion on them.
Yet this is one of the questions from Atheists that keeps coming up all the time, along with the fact that EVERY SINGLE murder in jail is a Chrisitian. EVERY mass murder is a Christian.
Like Mao didn't line people up against a wall and shoot them down and document it with movie film to show the world how he deals with crime in China.
To say someone who murders in a religion whose commandments are NOT TO KILL and to LOVE and to TURN the other cheek is a Chrisitian is like saying an Atheist is religious because he takes God's name in vein when he whacks his tumb with a hammer while fixing the house.

Sorry, butI haven't noticed a huge biason either the Christian side or the skweptical side.
The R/S section is sort of a magnet for sermonizing and antagonizing. Most of the questions are guided to try to get a particular answer, or de-legitamize another view. And most answers are attempts to either back up the questioner, or embarrass him.
And that holds for all religious viewpoints.
More likely, you're more alert to goofy Christian posts, and less critical of skeptical posts.

Some days it's a close call ... both "misbehave" ... but most often the scale tips to the Christians attacking and taunting the Atheists. All of them don't, (some even admonish their own brethern for the attacks) but the numbers are in favor of the Christians being top-bashers.

Yes I too agree and I am a Christian. Some people feel like they have to defend The bible or God himself when in all reality it goes aganist the very teachings of Chritst himself. God is about Love and most people get caught up on always trying to point out the speck in someone else's eye. Good question.

Yes I have noticed this. This is because Christians are so intolerant of other religions. Its very difficult for them to deal with non believers. Granted, some non believers push their ideals onto the Christians, resulting in a very pissed off Christian.
I just think that we should all just leave it alone. Christians, in one corner, and atheists in the other corner! I honestly think that the arguing should stop. Expressing your beliefs openly is fine, as long as its not pushing your beliefs onto others. Open discussions are great.....but pushing is not.

No, far from it, the only shameful thing I've seen is when Christians try saying stuff like, "If you don't believe in God, then you do you think you were born?"
Things like that just make me bonk my head into my fist. I don't really see Christians being indecent, I do see some being stupid though.

yes. yes I have. They are sensitive souls and prone to hysteria. Poor things. They have never been really inebriated before. They cannot liken it to anything else. Perhaps one day...one day, there may be some understanding and love. But until then, hysteria and fear will rule the Y!A R & S board! MUAHAHAHAHA!

Go down the list of questions and see how many of them are asked that make no sense other than to attack Christians. There are lots.
