I have been taking klonpin for several years to help me sleep. I made up my mind to stop taking the klonpin and sleep without it. Has anyone ever gone off of medication after taking them for a long time? How long will I have to go without sleep before I start to sleep normal again?

I never had a sleeping problem in my life , I sleep before I put my head on the bed even .
But i know that if you need sleep you will , so even if you stayed 48 hours not sleeping your body will tell you that now you need a bed , so I suggest you go on with your body needs for the next month till you can train it to sleep at night every day .

Please do not stop takinf klonipin immediately or all of a suddenly. Especially in your case, it is very very important to taper VERY slowly off of klonipin because stopping abruptly can cause seizures from the withdrawls your body will experience. If you have been taking Klonipin for sleep, it is going to be very hard for your body to put itself to sleep because your brain has not had to shut itself down for so long. If you plan to stop taking klonipin, talk to your doctor and ask about a medicine called Rozerem. You will most likely not be able to ge to bed without medication for about a year until your body adjusts to having to do the job itself.

for a long time I took sleeping pills for a problem that I didn't really have. I looked all over the internet to help me to start to sleep again. Here are a few internet sites that I found useful:

http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Better-Sleep

http://www.wikihow.com/Avoid-Sleepless-Nights

If these don't help there are a couple of other sleep questions on yahoo answers that might help you!

Good luck!
