I saw that you are possibly in Austin. If this is the case, go on an adventure. Austin has some awesome outdoor activities. For the daytime, hike and bike or canoe on town lake is nice. The past few weeks the weather has been in the 70's and it stays that temperature for a while. Or go site seeing at the Whole Foods Market, there are live bands there on the regular, actually all over Austin. If its a night date, go to the Trail of Lights, and see the Big City Tree. There's so much to do!

The WORST place to go is a movie. Going on a date is to get to know the person, right? Well, how are you getting to know them sitting in a dark room for 1 1/2 hours, not talking? I find that the best place is a coffee shop, or if you don't like coffee, a smoothie bar.

Eating gets in the way of talking, and can lead to those embarassing first date moments (ex: girl not wanting to eat in front of guy, pizza sauce on shirt, spinach in teeth, etc.)

Clubs and non-martini bars are also a bar idea. They are too loud and you can't have a one on one convo.

A shop where you can sip a drink and maybe leave and walk around really gets to where the date should really go, and that's getting to know the person you're out with. So since this is the 'dining out' section, I'd say Starbucks. They have a nice selection of drinks, and SMALL treats (coffee cake, cookies, brownies, etc) to nibble at. Plus its a much more casual place to ask someone out to.

Unless you could care less about his/her last name, then skip all that, stay in and order pizza.

It depends on where you live, if you are thinking of a specific place. However, keep in mind that your goal is getting to know the other person and having meaningful conversation. Therefore, pick your venue that suits that goal... dinner is always good because you can have conversation throughout. Also, doing fun activities together (rather than just sitting in a movie staring) may be better ... something interactive... walking downtown, through the mall, etc. Find out what she likes to do and treat her to it. Be a gentleman and open doors for her, treat her like a queen. Do a search for date ideas on google for more location ideas.

I personally like to go to dinner, it is a good place where you can chat and get to know each other. after dinner I like to walk hand in hand and talk more. I live near a beach so I tend to go there alot on dates, is romantic in the evening.

It really depends on person.

For me, going to go see a movie and have a nice dinner is a very good date plan. It sound typical, but it works well for me. Why not try this one out? I hope you'll have a good time with your date!
