To answer your question, I would first have to explain to you the nature of human beings. No matter how bad a person's character and attitude is, he/she will always have their own group of friends. No matter how much you feel that this guy is ******-up, he will still go on life and get a gf, maybe even married. Why is that so? In live, we will treat someone with exceptional care and love even they are not your bf, but yet treat others without the acknowledgement of existance! You might get involve in a fight with someone today over certain issues, but if and when that issue is solved or the both of you somehow are able to reconcile your differences, acquaintances you will not be, but friendship on a higher level. As some people say, only when there is love, there is hate, though in a very general sense

All can be forgiven, but that is the chore of the one who must forgive.
Enemies can become acquaintances, but to transition to friends depends on the nature of that which made enemies. If the offense is lifelong, then after the forgiving, it is the chore of the offender to make amends. Then, friendship might develop.
Oh my...lovers?
Darling, I hope that I have not hurt you badly...

it can go the other way, too; i've seen peoples lovers and best friends become worst enemies. anything is possible.
hate is just an angry, thwarted kind of love, anyway.

As the old adage says
There is a fine line between love and hate.
It can happen, but before you let it, you really should consider what it was about them that made them your enemy in the first place!

Yeah. My current gf (successful relationship) used to think I was an asshole. Things change. You'll be surprised what weird relationships emerge in time.
