I cut my own corns and never have a problem with cutting too deep, so if you must, use nail clippers, DO NOT USE SIZZOR TYPE CUTTERS, and cut of tiny bits slowly (don't cut off any tissue that feels the sharpness of the clipper .. it's not dead) because It's the build up of the dead skin tissue that doesn't need to be there caused by constant pressure and rubbing when shoes are too tight and the toes get pressed up against one another that's causing the type of pain associated with corns.

You should notice a difference with just the tiniest bit removed as it takes away that much pressure.

It's wisely suggested though that you shouldn't try cutting them off yourself as it's hard to know sometimes when to stop. If you show your doctor the problem, they can probably cut them off much safer than you could, or refer you to a podiatrist if it's not within their expertise.

Wear proper fitted shoes and foot power helps to keep the feet dry, as dampness increases friction.

If you haven't cut very deep and don't usually experience problems with healing it should heal fine on it's own, but use corn pads (special bandage type pads with recesses that the corn fits into so that you don't feel pressure against it) that are available at most drug stores to cushion the area and if it won't heal, take it to the doctor.

A podologist or podiatrist is the best person to help you. Corns are caused by tight or ill fitting shoes. A reputable doctor will help you get rid of it in a sterile environment. I would suggest you also take him all your shoes so he or she can check them out and determine which you can use and which you should definitely avoid, because no matter how many times you go get your feet fixed the corn will always come back unless you stop using the shoe that is causing it in the first place.
