for the last 8 or so months, i have been experiencing occasional numbness in the muscle on my upper left thigh, my left upper arm, and my left thumb. it was usually for a moment or two, but in the last couple of weeks, it has become a regular thing. i also get the sensation there is something crawling on the numb areas. any ideas or suggestions? besides going to the doctor, because that's the obvious one.

What you are experiencing is called parastesia...you can find the definition of that at www.wikipedia.com
The most important thing is you are experiencing neurological symptoms that need medical attention. Are there any other symptoms you can recall? that would help better with explaining what is wrong.

You can't just automatically put a lable like Parastesia on symptoms like that. It COULD be neurological, then again it could be vascular. If you have ever had any problems with blood flow: Like thick blood or clogged arteries, then it would most likely be vascular. The only truly definitive and SAFE way to know would be to go to the doctor. If you are determined to put it off though, you might try taking a low dose aspirin. It will thin your blood just a bit, and if it solves the problem, then you KNOW it's moat likely to do with your blood vessels. But you will still need to go to the doctor, and soon.

Hi it could be as simple as a pinched nerve, they can cause such symptoms. It could be symptoms of a stroke which is alot more serious.
