I wanted to get hair extensions, but i'm alittle skeptical because I've heard/read people say that is EXTREMELY damaging to your hair. So I want to know, is it? Also, if I do decide I want extensions, what the best technique and general cost range? Thanx.

I have a friend who wore extensions for two years. Now she cut her hair short. They did damage her hair, but such is life. It will grow back. so no biggie.

It all depends on what type of extensions you get. Some are glued in about 1/4 inch from the roots. Some are sewed into a braid (that is like a corn row braid). There is a new technique. It looks like a little button. It is snap onto a small tress of hair at the root. They can all be damaging mostly because of breakage. But when your own hair isn't being trimmed, it will get breakage also. They have to be redone every 3 to 4 months and can cost a lot of money. But I think you will find that you really don't get as much damage as you might think. Good luck...

Whether or not your hair gets damaged depends on who puts the extensions in your hair and what method they use. There are three common methods. These include glue, sew, and clip. A clip is the least damaging while glue can be the most harmful. Also, you should get it done by a professional. Look at how her hair looks and don't be too shy to say you have changed your mind and leave.

it does damage the bottom of your hair where itis attatched... but it is not a forever thing. You can cut off all of that hair that is damaged and there is nothing permanent
