I'm going to a Christmas Eve dinner hosted by my boyfriend's parents, most of his family will be there, and I'm really nervous. I need to find a tasteful gift to give his parents. Any suggestions?

A nice bottle of champagne - Mumm Cordon Rouge is reliable and moderately priced; a gift basket w/ gourmet foods, such as cheese and crackers or coffee, etc.; a centerpiece/floral arrangement.

Nice gift baskets, a bottle of wine or a nice plant will work as a generic type of gift your boyfriend might be able to give you some insight into what his parents like...

Could be better if you know their tastes first. Why not ask your boyfriend what their tastes are before you get the gift!

You can ask your boyfriend as to what the parents might welcome. He, in turn, should ask his parents if they (parents) need anything that you (and your boyfriend) can pick up on your way to their place.

If they have no preference, and no allergies, a bouquet of flowers is nice.

A photograph of the event mailed to them (with the parents, your boyfriend and you in the picture, of course) will help them remember the even more clearly.

Happy Holidays!
