Jesus is 100% man and 100% God at the same time. Considering that - if it was you about to die - as a human wouldn't you pray to God? I don't know but I've been through labor and that's the worst pain ever that I know of - I thought I was going to die - you bet I prayed to God! Jesus rebuked Peter because he acted on his emotions rather than trusting Him, it wasn't as much about not letting him to to the cross as it was Peter simply not realizing the purpose of what was happening there. The amazing thing about Jesus is that you'll see throughout the gospels how his humanity and divinity are so carefully displayed at different times where it would bring the most glory to God either way.

Jesus Christ was a complete Human being while he was on earth.

He had pain in his body since the body was of flesh and also the human feelings.

Suppose some body is going to torture you and kill you tonight and you know that you will definitely caught by them in an hour. How do you feel? Do you feel like dancing, singing and playing?

At this moment the Human side of Jesus Christ felt the sore and distress and that's why he prayed.

We see that he was human. Like us.

But above all, his fathers will was the most important.

Imagine if you were about to take on Gods wrath for every sin ever committed by the people that were willing to turn to God through you.

The pain is unimaginable to me. One day I was staring at the ocean. I imagined a Wave higher than the tallest building coming towards me.

I imagine that that was unfathomably nowhere near what Jesus was praying to be taken away if at all possible.

But don't forget, Jesus willingly went before the Sanhedrin and faced them in his fathers name. He also continued all the way to crucification, and faced what he prayed about. God gave him the strength didn't he.

I hope this helps you understand.

Imagine you were to die for the sins of the world, and that you were to have the flesh ripped off your back, and that all of your friends would leave you to die alone. That you would be brought before kings, and spat on and beat and humiliated, and have your naked body displayed on a cross burning in the middle eastern sun, while people Mocked you and cursed you.

Would you ask the Lord if there is another way?

You see Jesus was fully man and fully God. You have to understand this to understand this statement. He was God speaking His pain out loud. They took God and did all of these things to him. So that we might enter in to His presence. Yet He was obediant and went willingly to the cross.

because he was a man. Any man with goodness in their hearts who especially knows there going to die will come across such a challenge. So Christ being the good man he was prayed to God asking for strength and knowing damm well was going to be answered recieved strength from God. Than after the crosse, was resurrected and became God's only beggoten.

Because, he was ONLY human. That's right, as a sacrifice for what was originally lost, he had to be EQUAL to what was lost, and that was a 'perfect human male.' Any human, perfect or not would be capable of feeling pain, pain is a defensive mechanism to warn us of danger. Not having pain would infact make you very imperfect. Christ even prayed to "have this removed" or to actually "get out of dying" if he could, but his fathers will was for his sacrifice to go through, no matter how painful for his son. Again, any human would want out, even someone perfect would want to avoid this agony, but this too was yet another test to be passed out of love alone.

Jesus was in the body of an aflicted human being like you and me(yet without sin). When he got to the garden of Gethsemane he had taken sin upon himself. He was seperated from God. He didn't rely on his own strength, but on the faith that God had given him. He didn't want to die, but he knew he had to go through it to secure our salvation.
