it's more about controlling what you eat and how much. my doctor told me 1 pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories and you would have to walk a marathon to burn that many calories. definitely do your walking but cut your portions of food down, avoid sugar and don't drink soda. i did that and lost 25lbs in 51/2 weeks. good luck

It depends on your diet and metabolism, aswell as the distance you achieve in that hour.
It is proven that a half hour walk daily can take up to 8 kilo's (17lbs) off in 12 months. However, if your diet is unhealthy, you may gain more than 8 kilos in that 12 months, so no results are seen. This is often the time people give up excercise believing it to be a waste of time, but they soon find their weight balloons rapidly.
Watch what you are drinking. Limit your alcohol consumption aswell as soft drinks, juices/cordials, tea and coffee. Sugar converts to fat when it can no longer be burnt off as energy, and you can gain up to 10kilos in a year if you have as little as a can of coke a day!
Drink plenty of water, eat a well balanced diet and keep up the walking. Try to add in aerobic or cardio excercises at least once a week, and where possible, start weight training as this builds lean muscle which will boost your metabolism and help you lose weight faster. Do not eat for an hour before and an hour after excercise as the energy needed to build and repair muscle aswell as burn fat will be re-directed to your stomach to breakdown the food ingested.
Finally, DO NOT eat more just because you are excercising more. This mistake is made by many people and they end up exceeding their normal daily calorie needs - wasting the workout.
I lost 40 kilo's (80lbs) in 6 months following these rules, and have kept it off for more than 2 years. I also took a supplement called Gutamine, which aids in replenishing the amino acids lost when working out. or a complete BCAA (branched chain amino acids) which was great not only for replenishing the lost amino acids, but also helped with muscle pain and maintain a healthy muscle metabolism.
I hope this helps,
Cheers,
Brittany

Depends on your current weight as well as if you can decrease your intake of calories.
One pound = 3500 calories.
For a 160-lb adult, walking burns about 100 calories per hour. You could burn about 9000 calories in 3 months (90 days), or 2.7 lbs, if you did not change your eating patterns.
Walk at a faster rate and for 90 minutes or longer, change your diet and eat smaller portions and you could double your weight loss per week.
A healthy weight loss rate is about 1 lb per week.

in my experience not much....but if you make it a brisk walk...and add a few minutes to each walk....maybe do it morning and evening, the weight will come off. It may seem slow but it will be a more thorough weight loss and you will build up some muscles you haven't used in a while......my hip flexers and the tendons on the top of my feet were always the worst.

Nil if you do not have any plan. Work the biggest muscle in your body. ie. Thigh muscle by walking three times per week. Alternate with whole body workout for remaining three days. Take one day rest. Target walking two miles in 32 minutes. Try and reach 'target heart rate'. Don't lose more than three kg. per month for permanent weight loss.
