This summer I worked at Taco Bell for about a month, and the ENTIRE time I was treated like ultimate sh*t. Yea, there was the occasional rude customer (I was a cashier), but working with those people were unbearable! This girl used to blame me for EVERYTHING. And then I got yelled at for the dumbest things! For instance, I was working at night and we had a big crowd, but my manager's manager called the shift manager and told her to tell me to "stop looking so stupid" (WTF?), and then he told her to tell me to "mop the floors". How the hell was I supposed to mop the floors when we had customers to the door? And the floors weren't even dirty! When the customers were finally gone, I started mopping, but I got yelled at because a new customer just walked in (wasn't even at the cashier). And the bathrooms started flooding, and I got yelled at for not doing this or not. ARGH, it was so stressful.

So what in the world is wrong with the people there?! Why are they so ANAL and UNHAPPY?

Not elderly people. I mean people who are in their mid-twenties and up.

Nunoyvgvn... Awi, did you fail high by any chance and happen to work at the Taco Bell that I quit at? Because you seem pretty bitter and moronic.

I PITY YOU.

They have wasted their lives. (Why would elder people be working at a fast-food restaurant?) I guess that's why they're mean.

You will always meet negative and rude people. That's how life is. Ignore them.

Oh, wow. Sounds bad. Bet you went home mad every day, huh?

Let's see if this helps:

1) The job is not there for you; you are there for it. Therefore, it is not a personal thing.

2) What were your expectations when you took the job?

3) Did you do the job better than anybody else? If so, then you did all that you could.

4) Your job at your job is to make everybody else -- especially the manager -- look good, even if you have to take the hit. Remember, this is all about how you get your paycheck.

5) Older people's feet hurt all day long. That's something that neither you nor an aspirin can help.

6) Customers have sick relatives, a dollar left over from their paycheck for gasoline, are pulling double shifts back-to-back, have been threatened by their neighbor, chased by a pit bull, cut their toenails too short or not at all and walked 2.5 miles in 112 degree heat . . . Oh, you get the idea. An empty stomach does not a happy person make.

Personally, I am happy to see anybody who can help me get something to eat when I come in to trade my greenbacks for a quick meal.

hi there !!!! I can imagine how frustrated you feel for what you went through. Now let us stop for a moment and go down the road , lets say 20 years, can you imagine what it must feel like to be a certain age and find yourself working at a fast food chain ? For many people, they have no choice, they have to for financial reasons. They must feel very frustrated. I understand this does not give anyone the right to treat you bad, but I can tell you by experience, we catch more bees with honey. Many times when someone is snappy and just a totall @##%%
we have to rise above this, be a better person and not allow the person to get to us. We should actually give the person space, and go on as normal. This does not mean you will put up with this and allow abuse, no. But it just will show the person you are mature, and you do not allow silly things to bother you. If the behaviour continues, very nicely I would stop and talk to the person at the right moment . IF this does not work, I would then just move on to another place that you feel more comfortble.
Wishing you a happy holiday
love light and peace

Sounds like the general consensus of the world at any age for the most part we are in a world of sh!t all to often . I've heard that people these days want instant gratification and anger at less but I think there is more to it . Low paying jobs are snobbed the criminally rich are looked up to and the general value system is
at it's worst ever ... I don't even begin to know the cure but it's in the parking lots the stores the streets everywhere not just fast food joints although they have a head start probably.
peaceout: only you can change the world and prevent forest fires too......

Others have commented about your attitude, so I won't. What I will do is remind you that up until 9/11, the Enron scandal, and other events at that time and since, these people probably had a great retirement plan going. They've probably been out in the world and done more than you can possibly imagine, and were about to retire. Then someone like Ken Lay comes along and rips off every penny of the retirement they worked all their lives for. THEN they have to pay the bills by working with someone like you (you need to learn to put yourself in others' shoes).

I'd be pissed off too.

They are angry because they are not doing anything better with their lives than working at a Fast Food joint. I briefly worked at McDonald's when I was younger and I was treated like sh*t by the managers and older people as well. I could never "swirl" the ice cream in the cones to their satisfaction and one day the manager who was like 40 came over grabbed my hand and made me swirl the ice cream right in front of a customer and said "oh don't worry when you have been doing this for 23 yrs like me you will have it down" I looked at her and said I have goals in life and won't be working for McDonald's in a year let alone 23. They always took things out on me and made me do crap jobs because they knew I was going to make something of myself and they never would. That is what it is. Just don't let it get to you and know that you will move on to bigger and better things.

Obviously because life is hard for those folks. Trying to make ends meet with what T.B. pays is no walk in the park. The stress and frustration caused by a low paying, unrewarding job can turn a person bitter and hostile - especially if they feel they really should be doing better for themselves.

Probably because a good many of these people work at fast food restaurants because that's all they CAN do. Many of them probably didn't graduate high school, have a slim to none chance of going to college, make $6.00 per hour, and live paycheck to paycheck. Wouldn't YOU be upset too if this is what your future held for you--a lifetime of working at a fast food restaurant, grocery store or the like? I know I would!

Stay in school!!! I know of what you speak. For some that is the most power they will ever have, dont take it personal. Also I think these types are all over, moreso in the fast food biz though. Also again just to be clear not all managers ive had were like that but some were.

We all handle stress in a different way. Your bosses and co-workers have managed that unfortunately by being too critical and "cruel" to a newbie. They demanded too much from you, expecting to be at par with them (that's how they think).
The best way is to quit and look for a new one. Talking to them would not change things and might only cause more tension.
Remember not to be like them when its your turn to be the boss.
All the best.
