My guess would be because microwaves cook from the inside out so pressure builds up in the egg and there is no place for it to escape without blowing up.

You must have overcook in the microwave. It take shorter time to boil an egg than with the oven. The time is the factor.

steam will build up inside the egg yolk causing it to explode. If you take a tooth pick and make a tiny hole in the yolk it will not explode

Unlike hard cooking(boiling),the temperature rises very quickly and the eggshell cannot contain the sudden pressure(steam).
