From an existentialist point of view, absurdity does not refer to humans; it refers to the desire held by some humans to make sense of an indifferent universe.
When we seek to impose order upon a random assemblage of events, we are invariably caught short.
Our social codes and mores, sufficient for the niceties of civic life, become useless when faced with the vast chasm of chance that marks the nature of existentialist reality.
Thus it is absurd to view our lives as anything more than the collection of our best efforts to peer into a howling abyss, aided only by a flickering candle.

"Absurd" in existential terms is closer to the definition for the word, "lacking in order." Specifically, it means that there is no meaning in the universe that relates to humans, so human efforts to find meaning in life are futile.

Humans "have a God-shaped void" in their mind and heart and experiencing this absence in their being makes their existence absurd.

I would have to say the way they worship death as eternity and dismiss life as only a temporal place for no good. How can anyone appreciate existence when they only worship death.
