i think the 144,000 is a symbol for " a large number " i cud be wrong, but the bible clearli says that as long as you believe in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as ur personal savior then you will go to Heaven, so as long as you believe in that, i wouldn't worry about 144,000...as long as i'm one of them...a number is just a number...good luck on ur spiritual quest! :]]

no, the jehova witness say that 144 thousand will be saved only. but i say they interpret the verse in the book of revelation incorrectly.
I say that everyone who overcomes All things are SAVED. that number can be only a few or as many as All people that ever lived.
if you notice what the 144 thousand people are you will find that they sing a song that no one else can sing. thus they maybe just a "quior" in heaven. They are not defiled with women. which means they either never married or being married they never were corrupted by their own wives. but this implies that NONE of them are female that they are ALL Males.
i believe these numbers are the number of people from the tribes of israel alone. This does not seem to say that gentiles and pagans cannot be saved, in fact there are many servants described in the book of revelation as well who have robes of white who are waiting for the completion of the prophecies to be saved. And the numbers could not be numbered within the parameter of the vision John saw.
ok as far as the rapture is concerned, there are three different theories on what the bible means by being on a rooftop and one will be taken and another left and the changing of a soul in the blink of an eye.
the storm Katrina showed me that people on a roof can only describe the survivors that live. while death takes the mission person. Also it clearly describes in the bible that in the end days it will be like the days of noah. But in the days of noah. ALL flesh was destroyed except 8 souls if you believe the Torrah, and 86 people if you believe the Koran.
the fact that people died in the flood changes the interpretation of some of the verses that have been used traditionally to describe the RAPTURE.
Now Enoch was taken after he walked with God. Some people think that an entire civilization was TRANSLATED or taken away just like a rapture! but elijah and John the revelator were taken and transformed but so was Mohammed! So if the promise can be obtained to be saved from death by the example of a faithful few, i think it is possible that many people can be taken if they fulfill all the requirements of salvation, faith, and completed missions as well anything i am missing that gave their translations as a gift to them before they would've died.
Around the world people Show up missing all the time. Children disappear for many reason and people leave keys in cars with purses and other things and are just missing. So i believe a rapture is happening all around us.
I dont believe that God would take a pilot out of a plane in the air so the plane would crash and kill hundreds if not thousand i believe he would take the pilot when the plane lands. Be real people, who believe this last imaginary example of the rapture. God is merciful and loving before he is filled with anger and justice.

God has already picked the 114,000 out he is going to take to heaven. He's not telling who they are. These will be the only people to go to heaven and they have already been chosen. So the rest of you people are out of luck. I think its the Jehovah Witness that believes this nonsense. But I might be wrong it could be some other silly religion. No I'm sure I saw a movie about it once. It is the Jehovah Witness. xx

That is to symbolize those who are saved and were chosen to be saved before time. It symbolizes all the true Christians who remain faithful until the end.

There are 12 tribes and from each tribe, the are 12,000 Christians. X the two and you get 144,000 Christians. There are more than 12 nations in the world, so obviously, the 12 tribes symbolizes the so many nations, just like the 12,000 Christians symbolizes the so many Christians from each nation.

This topic is interesting though because of the 12 apostles

The 144,000 are refering to the Jews who got saved after the rapture. They will perform the job of evangelists to evangelize the whole world in the tribulation. They will be sealed and protected from all the wrath of God but i think they will be martyred by the Antichrist when the 7 years finish, so that's why they are in heaven singing before Christ. They are NOT raptured. JMHO.

Read Revelations. If it says that there will only be 114,000 taken, then that's that. But I doubt it. There ought to be more true believers than that. Well, God knows.

no, read Revelation 7. John saw a multitude which he could not number.

The 144,000 will have a significant role to play on the earth yes, perhaps they are the only ones not decieved in the last days, as Jesus said even the elect may be deceived. He's not talkin about prime ministers, He's talking about the elect in the church.

Check out this clip, will tell you about the rapture.

144,000 actually. That is the number that are going to Heaven initially. The Bible says it, so it must be so. It does list some of their characteristics:

(Revelation 14:1-5) "And I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth. These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless."

There will be no rapture. nowhere in any religious documents doesit mention rapture. It was made up by some girl who wnted to please the minister she had a crush on, and he took her "prediction" as his own theory and ran with it. Now all uneducated preachers are blathering on about it just to get more money from the people who want to be raptured.

Well, let's face it - on a planet with 6 billion human beings on it, that's just a bit elitist, don't you think? Since I don't believe any of that stuff, I don't worry about it. If you do, think about it - who are these people arrogant and self-righteous enough to think that they are the less than .0002% of humanity worthy of being saved?

Are these really people to whom you should look up? Are they really people of whom Jesus would approve, with compassion and grace.
