at night, because then the dirt doesn't get on your pillowcase, where it can then get on your face, clog your pores, and cause a breakout

One survey result :
54% in the morning
24% in both the morning and evening
22% shower only in the evening

Now for my answer.

I shower twice a day. I shower at night immediately before I go to bed and in the morning soon after I wake up. Why? It ultimately goes back to getting a good nights rest.

I didn’t start showering in the evening until I wrote the first post about this, but I’ve been doing it since then and can’t believe I hadn’t started sooner.

It perviously took me 30 minutes to an hour to go to sleep every single night for as long as I can remember. Since showering at night, I’m out of it within a matter of minutes.

Like others who shower at night, I find it helps totally relax me. I turn the water on as hot as I can bear it and just stand there for about 10 minutes. I’ll then do a fairly quick bathe and from there go directly to bed. It usually helps to get your hair as dry as you can with a towel, but a little dampness will help you feel refreshed when you lie down.

So my suggestion? Shower at night right before you go to bed and shower again when you wake up. Try if for atleast one week. If you don’t get to sleep faster and sleep better…you can kick me in the shins.

Congratulations! You bathe every day. The single most important thing you can do for your hair (and your body) is to bathe every day. When you bathe is irrelevant.

The website below actually suggest washing your hair every few days if normal (not oily.) The metafilter site has considerable commentary.

Finally, I was suffering from hair loss (not the hereditary kind). I explored this issue in depth. EVERY vendor of hair care products for hair loss recommended daily shampooing. Of course one thinks it's to sell more product. However, I stumbled into a site (sorry, couldn't locate it) where independent research had been conducted over a significant period of time. The bottom line was that most people (not hereditary hair loss) suffered extraordinary hair loss because they didn't keep their scalp healthy and clean; specifically, they concluded that one should shampoo every day!

If possible, try to wash your hair anytime between 7am to 6pm. Avoid any washing after 7pm. Although there's no scientific evidence, I've seen cases where one washes the hair almost every night and get frequent headaches compared to those who wash their hairs during the day. However, its a definite no-no to wash your hair just before going to bed.

I`m not completely sure, but I`d imagine it might be better to wash your hair before you go to bed. You don`t exactly get all sweaty and everything while sleeping, but when you`re out in the world, you`re bound to.

you might want to do it at night because:

1. oils and grease that build up in your hair during the day-it will go on your pillow-and that wont be very good.
2. it's one less thing to do (like the person below has said)
3. you wouldn't want to go to bed dirty.

hope this helps!

i do both, but if i was restricted to one, it would be morning. Doing it in the morning helps me wake up. But the main reason is because i want to gel my hair, and i need my hair wet.

sometimes you may need to have a shower before you go to bed and also in the morning.
because both can serve a real purpose.

I don't think it makes any difference. However I would want to blow dry it before going to bed at night.
