I see alot of angry christians, and alot of angry unbelievers out there.
Here is a question posed to unbelievers... what will happen to you when you die? I am really curious. I had my ideas about it when I was an unbeliever, but in all actuality I was truely afraid of death. Now I am not.

Unebleliever = Someone who does not believe in Christ.

My friend, I am not afraid of death. Sadly, anything that could happen in death could not compare to what has been taken from me in this life. I could not care less what happens to me when I die. I really would give my soul to know my child would no longer be sick. That would be heaven for me. I have been stripped of my former illusions. I don't mind that others have theirs, however.

Well of course I'm afraid of death. Absolutely petrified. The mere thought of... ceasing to "be" makes me feel panicky. I've actually HAD a near-death experience. I had pre-eclampsia, bordering on eclampsia, when I was pregnant (look it up, it's a nasty thing to go through).

Not ONCE did I try to "turn to God". No matter how scared I am... no matter how near death... it doesn't make "God" or "Jesus" or "Krishna" or "Quetzalcoatl" any more real.

It would be very very comforting to think that there is an all powerful, benevolent force waiting on baited breathe for the moment that I can be plucked gently from this "mortal shell" and brought to paradise... but just because it's comforting, just because it might help me deal with anxiety, doesn't mean it's anything more than a soothing defense mechanism.

I know that my viable organs will be donated and that, most like, I'll opt for cremation when I die. When someone receives my heart or my liver or my lung(s), I will at least in the physical sense continue to live. And, well, it just seems like a completely awesome thing to do. I mean, come on, saving a life? How does that NOT appeal to people?

Yup.
And yet another illogical fear based attempt at making me see the errors of my ways.... "What will happen to you when you die".

For crying out loud..... when will it end?

I'm a Pagan. I was once a Christian, but I'm not anymore. I believe in reincarnation because I've had memories of past lives. I'm a Pagan because it makes sense. I'm a Pagan because when it comes down to it, I know it's right for me. I've experienced the God and the Goddess. I've experienced real and significant change in my life, experiencing recovery from alcoholism and drug abuse. I've experienced reconciliation with my family. I've been given a gift to help others who are where I have been.

So, Am I a real unbeliever? In Christianity, for certain.
Am I worried about what will happen after I die? Not at all. I've been there before, and I'll be there again. It's simply not something to be afraid of.

When I die it will be the exact same for me as it was before I was born.

Funny that when I was a Christian I feared death...I feared what would happen to the people I knew that didn't follow the Bible. Revelations said god would wipe away the tears, but my mind couldn't get past thinking about how I would feel if I knew someone I cared for was in hell, but I made it to heaven. Questions I had like this was what enticed me to start studying Christianity and to read the Bible from cover to cover. That is what led me on my path to atheism.

Now I don't fear death at all. I just fear how it is I will die.

If unbeliever=Someone who doesnt believe in christ then are you saying that anyone who believes in other religion is an unbeliever?....thats ridiculous.

About after death...when you die your body disintegrates into the elements giving away fodder to new life forms. And your soul, if pure merges with the supreme one else is tormented by its unfinished business until it finds another chance to finish that by taking birth again.

And dont worry it will not take your memories and other stuff with it. So if you are dead thats it. Your story is finished. No PART II.

Why do Christians seem to use unbeliever as a swear word or put down. Lots of people do not believe in other religions. Christians for example do not believe in Islam or the other religions so they are unbelievers too.

When we die we will be free of the religious persecution by Christians.

It appears you are dividing mankind into two groups .....
Christians and Unbelievers?

How very arrogant.

For the record, I believe in God and I believe Jesus was sent to bring God's message, but I also believe his message was *greatly* misunderstood. I do not believe the only way to heaven is by accepting Jesus as your "personal savior". If that makes me an "Unebleliever" (unbeliever?) ... then guilty as charged.

What will happen to me when I die? I might make it to heaven when this lifetime ends, or I might have to come back one or two more times ... but I am quite certain that all souls return to heaven and ..... well, I won't say who gets there first.

Cheers and blessings and good will to you, my pompous friend!

And your fear of death is what lead you to become delusional with Christianity. Don't be so obsessed with death. Just live your life.

I am an Atheist. There are many people who don't believe in Christ as their savior who are not atheist. They are Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Jews, etc, etc, etc.

I do not believe that the people survive their own death. I believe death is the end of you.

I believe in other gods besides yours. I believe in reincarnation. I don't think it's possible to learn all your life lessons in one lifetime. Also, energy cannot be created or destroyed so we must reincarnate. It would go against the laws of Nature otherwise. I am not afraid of death. it is inevitable and I have accepted it. I would be sad to leave when i think there are more things I want to do. But I am not afraid.

As for the whole Hell thing. It doesn't fit with my line of thinking. I can't force myself to believe in something I see as so illogical. It's fine for other people. but I can't do it. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Death is the end of experience for the individual. When the brain shuts down, there is no longer consciousness. Without consciousness, there is no suffering. Without suffering, there is nothing to fear.

We fear death because we want to go on living. It's natural. It's a drive that evolved to keep us alive. There are only two kinds of people who don't fear death: those who have accepted its inevitability and have ceased to resist it, and those who don't value their lives. Religions that teach of a paradisaical afterlife devalue human life. When life on Earth is seen as a brief test before your "real," eternal life begins, it ceases to be of value.
