As someone who has sold vehicles on Ebay, I can tell you there are advantages and disadvantages in using it. As a buyer, try to limit yourself to vehicles that you can look at prior to bidding! Understand that when you bid, you are committing to purchase the vehicle at your bid price. Do any and all checking, and ask questions prior to placing a bid. Do not assume something works, ask or check it out yourself.

As a seller, you need to be aware that there are a lot of scams out there. The best thing to do is only accept cash or USPS money orders. While the money orders can also be forged, you can cash them at any post office, prior to shipping the vehicle.

As a seller, do not accept Paypal for a vehicle. There are too many cases where Paypal will refund a buyers money if they complain, even on an as is sale where the situation complained about is clearly listed. Paypal is not the sellers friend!!!

Have any car you are considering buying (on eBay or from another source) checked out by a qualified mechanic prior to purchase or bid.

Yes it is a great spot to buy a car. Especially for specialty models or hard to find versions of a car you want. For example if you want a Mustang- Cobra- Black-2003-Convertible, it may be hard to find locally, but eBay represents such a large market that it can be found much easier. Also with the price you save on ebay which can be up to 5000 less than dealer in some instances you will easily be able to buy yourself a new set of tires, fix some paint chips, have all the fluids changed, get the windows tinted, and put a stereo in, you'd still be saving over $3500 even if you did all of that.

I have bought two hard to find vehicles off of ebay. One of them came with many modifications that are hard to find, you cannot find these types of vehicles locally.

Also shipping companies take the hassle out of getting your car home, for about $1000 you can get a car shipped to your door step. You can save even more by flying out to the car and driving it home, depending on how far away it is.

If you were selling your vehicle on eBay it is probably only a better choice than locally if like I mentioned before, it is a special model of that vehicle. So not just an Acura, or an Integra even, but perhaps a Type R would be a good model to sell on eBay, especially if there are lots of modifications done to it. Locally you might not find someone who wants a car like that, but nationwide you can probably find a few buyers. Good luck!

I say yes if you use smarts. I have 4 brother in laws and they have all bought cars off of there. Mostly to fix up some and resell for profits. They love that sort of thing and have got GREAT deals on there.

One of my brothers in law suggests you read ALL the information on the car. Make sure the owner is willing to let you look at the car thoroughly before you pay. Take someone with you who knows a lot about cars. If the owner is not willing to do that, it usually means they are hiding information about the car that they do not want disclosed.

Be wise and you should be ok. My brothers in law have made thousands off buying autos off ebay, fixing them up and reselling them for profit.
