the contours have many problems look them up on consumer report, this is just the start of many problems to come. The good thing is that if you want another one everyone is selling theirs because of the same problems.

this may be real simple. A common problem w/ the
Escorts was that a multi-pin plug located under the glove box
would work loose and then no power to heater. The
Contour probably has the same basic configuration.
With the key in the right position, set the fan to high and
push snug any connectors you see under there. when you hit
the right one, the fan will start. Then, secure that connector.
I used a thin zip-strip.

if the fan's not blowing either it's burnt, or its not getting power

the heater is by the passenger's feet. there's a big wire going to it. clean the electrical plugs of the heater and the power lead with some electrical plug heater, let it dry off, and then plug it back in.

if that doesn't do it try jiggling the plug while the key is on and the fan is turned on to the lowest setting. if you can notice the fan trying to go you just have a really bad plug needs to be fixed. if its not going at all check you have current coming out of that wire when the heater dial is on.

if there is just replace that plug and try again. if that still doesn't do it you need to get in that heater to test the blower motor itself but i hope for you it's just the wire.

on mine the plug was really bad i just cut it out and replaced the whole thing with a fresh wire it works great now. it's dirty down there and those heaters draw a lot of power.

Well It could be a thermostat so I think that should be the first thing that you change because it is the simpleist thing. Other than that I think that I would see if the heater core is clogged. If you have not had your system flushed out this could be the reason that the heat is not coming on. But if the temp gage is not reading that the motor is warming up it is the thermostat. This happend to me. Just make sure that. If your blower moter is shot I reccomend going to the junk yard because a ned one could be like $250.00 So I guess that I just gave you allot of useless info but its good good others too

Not all that familiar with automotive, but if this was residential I would say this sounds like a fan or blower moter that has burned out. Could also be an electrical issue (not fuses, but wiring).

Blower motor, or more likely a broken fan switch (since you said it used to work on high)

Heater core.

Could be the cable and/or clamps from your fan switch to the fan motor.

When that happens it is most likely the blower motor resister.
