"Real" jogging is slightly better exercise, primarily because more muscles engage. Except under the most ideal conditions outside, your body is constantly adjusting balance, stride length, and pace to meet the requirements of changing environmental conditions. An indoor treadmill, even one with changing inclination, doesn't require as much effort for any given distance.
Still, the difference is very small, and you'll still reap great cardiovascular benefits from using an indoor treadmill.

i don't know about other people, but even if u offer me a lot of money i won't start jogging, i just hate it - going outside, when it is cold and miserable, running somewhere, what if u get tired? u have to crowl back home. i hate jogging. so for me a treadmill is the best option - it is warm around me, i can stop any time i want, i don't need to drug myself back home if i get tired - i just switch it off. so tread mill it is. and u can judge on my picture here whether treadmill is good or not. i do every day 20 min before gym and if i feel i am fat or ate too much the previous day i do 20 min more after gym work out. good luck

no actually treadmills are worse because not only are they easier but they do not work you out hard enough. It may seem like your using more energy but really your not using as much. Yes you will still get a very good work out and you can watch TV and burn off fat but running is a little better.

treadmills aren't great for your joints as it is an unnatural surface. The surface of the treadmill doesn't absorb much of the impact as normal tar or ground would so the force on your joints is greater and thus harmful. Treadmills are great for training for running/jogging outdoors because its hard for a beginner to go straight into that! Good Luck!

Jogging is better. Treadmills aren't that effective, and also, jogging requires more energy and movement.

No, machine workout is not healthy. The best excercise there is, is the one that hurts the most.
