i have been observing my kitten and i noticed that he grooms alot. and i really mean ALOT! when he grooms, he takes longer time to groom this particular area around his body. I checked if he has fleas because he has been scratching/biting/grooming that part alot. And i felt something there, it was like a dandruff stuck in his fur. The problem is i couldn't take it out! I observed nearer and noticed this red patch like as if it's dry blood. I tried everything! but it just won't come out. I don't want my kitten to keep scratching and biting himself. Is there any way i can take it out? Is it possible that he has fleas in his body? Or is it dandruff? i heard cats have dandruff too. please help! thanks.

Adam's Flea and Tick shampoo (if over 12 weeks of age) and a lice comb. Repeat per instructions like every 7-10 days. Buy a more nutritional food, give it a dose of Ivermectin wormer and when the kitty has been shampooed or dipped several weeks, wait 2 days after the last bath or dip (not both) and put Front-line drops on per vet's dosage. There is a dark brown wound spray for horses you can spray on cats or dogs that comes from the local farmer's coop stores but there may be a better topical that will not lick off easily but I can't think of it right now. Hope this helps. Also, make sure when you spray the bedding area or use carpet flea powder that it doesn't get in the food or water and careful with anything like Diaznon outdoors so it doesn't access it.

Time to go to the vet. If kitty doesn't have fleas just a scratch from rough play it could become really irritated if you use flea removal products. Generally you can see fleas and this redding skin could be a skin infection and could get really serious. The best thing is to call your vet describe exactly like you did in your question and they might suggest something for you.

It could be a skin reaction to something he got into, scratching the itch, rubbing it raw ans letting it heal.. Let it fall off on its own, it may take a little time.
He may have reacted the same way to dry skin or maybe even dandruff.
Fleas, on close inspection, look like jumping little black dots. After they bite, they leave dried blood and some of their own waste behind.
Depending on the kitten's age, start with a flea comb. Comb well through ALL his fur since fleas move.
Also get him to the vet; you don't want your house or any other pets infested, and you don't want them biting on YOU!

it could be a lot of things but if you suspect it's fleas you need to rid the enviroment of them first, quite often it's not cat or dog fleas that cause the problem, and actually ground/sand/grass fleas cause more than animal ones and can be very hard to get rid of.it's almost impossible to get rid of them in sand.i do know a way but i'm sick of typing it but i'll try and do something detailed and post it on you send it so more ppl can access it and it does work.all i have to do is work out how to use you send it.all the best for xmas and new year all. PS.tea tree oil will get rid of the sore,do it before it becomes a permanent disease.ie:mange.

take your kitty to the vet. buy the flea stuff there for him, don't buy flea prevention for cats from any store, some cats have fatal reactions to them, even if they are marked for cats. but your kitty sounds like he's miserable and very uncomfortable. take him to the vet and find out exactly what it is. stop picking at the site on your cat you may be making it worse.
