I left some frozen, cooked ham out to thaw and I forgot about it. I left it out for almost a day. I stuck it in the freezer to kill the bacteria. If I defrost it again, is it okay to eat?

no. freezing does not kill bacteria. It only stops more growing. It probably would have been ok if you had just eaten it then, but putting it back in the freezer means you have to thaw it again - which will lead to more bacteria growing.

I wouldn't put it back in the freezer. I've defrosted meat and then didn't have time to use it before, so what I do is put it in the fridge and cook it the very next day. I've never gotten sick or anything from doing this. But I'd make sure to cook it the very next day.

Freezing slows certain microorganisms` growth, however some of them can quickly regain their pace of growth once freezing is stopped and - what is worse - may grow much faster, no matter you freeze them again.

Therefore sometimes not freezing at all is better than freezing, thawing and freezing again.

Get rid of this ham for your own safety. It does not have to be bad but the chance of possible problem is higher.

Ham contains a lot of bacteria to begin with, do not eat it .Putting back in freezer with not kill bacteria.and to re cook it will not make it any better. When it's bad it's bad.I know it cost's a lot for food. But it would cost you more if you were off of work and in the hospital.

It's 9:33pm on the west coast and I'm seeing it right now, well only because I went in a few pages. It's starting to unfreeze now. Sucks for all that asked questions and didn't get answers.

When you marinade meat, one way to do it is to put the marinade in a ziplock bag and freeze it with the meat. That is the strongest form of marination. If you let something thaw out and get microbes in it, and then you freeze it, what you are doing is marinading the meat in micro-organisms. I wouldn't do it.

If you've thawed it, go ahead and use it. Don't re-freeze it.
