considering how many christians feel that it is empirically understood (or should be) by everyone that homosexuality is chosen sinfully, not something they are born with, it is odd that, across the board, most mental health professionals agree that sexual orientation is most likely a result of environmental, cognitive and biological factors, and cannot be forcibly changed.
Are those doctors, using "man's reason," lost in satan's lies?

Yeah, apparently. The fact that virtually the entire psychological and medical community has been telling us for the better part of 4 decades and in no uncertain terms that homosexuality is a normal, natural, healthy sexual orientation is the "work of Satan". Couldn't be that homosexuality poses no threat to the individual during day to day functioning or to society in general... naaaaahhhh, that's not what motivates psychologists to declare homosexuality "not an illness".

If they are, then Satan seems to be just a bit better at understanding psychology and biology than do these Chrsitians.

Then again, most Christians haven't ever tried to fully understand the particular verses in the Bible that they mistakenly believe are talking about homosexuality.

They forget that Christ never said one word about homosexuality. They forget that the verses they point to in Leviticus also contain prohibitions that they deem no longer applicable to them as they aren't part of the moral law.

Whatever. Being transgendered, I've had to come to terms with much of this on my own. I know how I struggled to change who I was so that I could "be saved", having heard for years that by simply being who I was, I was evil. I didn't want to be evil, but I couldn't change. It took a long time to realize that who I was wasn't bad. It took a long time to recognize that maybe the church didn't know everything.

In the end, I decided I wasn't a Christian, but it was only after studying what the Bible had to say about me and about homosexuals that I left.

I use to be a mental health professional and I am a Christian. I also have a friend that is gay. There are gays and lesbians at my Church, some of whom have been married in the sight of God.

It is not their choice to be homosexual. As my friend says, no one in their right mind would choose to live a lifestyle that places them is such discrimination and physical danger. Many studies have been done. Of course I know that there are some Christians who chose not to listen to either Science or reason. And that is their choice.

I am an Episcopalian.

Concerning homosexuality, are most mental health professionals "lost in satan's lies"?

nope.

Not too many years ago being a Homo was an illness.

All of a sudden, with political correctness, it has become THE CHOICE OF CHOICES for many.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and Political CLOUT do miracles!

they were not "born" this way-God did NOT create them this way-those doctors(what ever their title) are lost in satan's lies and just as confused-besides if they tell them that they are ok to be like this, won't they get more money out of those people in the long run? God said to go forth and multiply and the same sex partners can't do this. btw-you don't see any of the animals He created confused about their sexuality.

ok ummmm i'm not sure where you are getting your info from but most mental health professionals do not believe in forcibly changing any individual regardless if they are homosexual or what ever else.
it is not fair of you to judge the mental health professionals, just as it is not fair for a mental health professional to judge their clients because of their sexual orientation

It baffles me how people can't even agree that you can't change your sexual orientation. The people who claim they do are lying to themselves; either they never were gay to begin with, or have pushed it so far out of their head that they won't let themselves think homosexual thoughts or perform homosexual acts... but they're still gay, obviously. A gay man would have an easier time trying to "force" himself to grow taller than he'd have trying to "force" himself to be straight.

Could you choose to be gay? Do you think anyone would actually want to choose to be gay...what benefit would it give them? The doctors are using their brains (which a believer should believe was given to them by God) to realize that no one would just one day decide to be gay....so there has to more to it than a choice between to sin or not sin.

Why do you care if others are gay anyway....it's their life, not yours. Why are those who complain the most about gay people the most likely to be closeted like Haggard?

Not many argue that people are not born with homosexual tendencies. However it is always a choice to live according to our sinful desires, or to live above them by the grace of God. My cousin has always been gay. I know he was born that way, but He has the choice on how to live. You are right though, there can be no forcible change. It has to be a willing surrender of our desire to His will.

I've never heard of someone who wanted to be homosexual. The way our society is today, anyone who starts to realize that they are attracted to the same sex would be quite upset. It takes tremendous courage for a person to embrace themselves and accept that they are different from most people for reasons no one can yet understand.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!
