Woah. I can't believe I almost missed this question. I just have to cosign on it. If there is such a place as Heaven or Hell I hope I get to go where Ghandi goes. If the Christians are right and he's in Hell then that's where I want to be because I'd rather be there than in Heaven with Pat Robertson.
If there is a "Heaven" I hope the Hindus are right.

Gandhi...in hell!!!? What ever religious sect that would send this Man to Hell (if it does indeed exist) should be systematically wiped off the face of this earth. It's totally absurd to believe that a person will go to hell if they don't follow the Bible. There are so many faiths and systems of beliefs that carry the same themes as the Bible.
I grew up as a preacher's kid and lived my whole life, up until I was old enough to think for myself, thinking that anyone who didn't go to my church was going to hell. It doesn't make sense. God doesn't only speak through the Bible. I firmly believe that every "Christian" should read, with an open mind "The Perennial Philosophy" by Aldous Huxley. After that there will be no justification for their narrow vision of right and wrong.
If you're judging Gandhi by the Bible, then you must realize that the Bible is not the absolute truth. There are so many other writings that have pretty much the same ideas, so similar its scary sometimes.
To put your faith in just one teaching is foolish, and if that book condemns someone as righteous as Gandhi to hell, then I want no part of it.

Sorry, yet this question has been requested truly some circumstances, and continually the Christians say that Jesus Christ is the basically course to heaven, so basically those who include Jesus Christ are going to heaven... -_- yeah good Dante's Inferno has a extremely passable view on it. curiously, all moral non-believers bypass to Purgatory, the position they mourn their separation from God for all eternity. for sure, if all the moral non-Christians bypass to Purgatory, then i'd a lot extremely bypass there than Heaven. i'm confident Gandhi's having a whale of a time in Purgatory!

And why would Gandhi be in hell? Of course he is in heaven. He was a wise and holy man. If he were a Christian (RC or Orthodox) he would be a Saint by now. But he is definitely not in hell. What crazy person have you been talking to?

I think Christians don't care. Most religions usually make you feel good as part of a "group". Love and Harmony among the brother of that group... all serving God. This makes believers feel good, its a good way to make everyone a better person.
However interactions outside that group.... that's when its all messed up. People seem to care less about people outside the group, not to mention see them as animals of different species. While moderate people try to make exceptions and start to embrace others (nonbelievers in Christ), fundamentalists sees it the way religion wants it to be, US and THEM... believers and non-believers... Evil verses Good. If a man doesn't believe in Christ then he will certainly go to hell, and their prayers are never accepted by God, and they deserve all the pain.
I think if one closely examines the scrips of most religions (especially Abrahamic religions) one would see that they all speak about being good to individuals within the group, and not in the universal or pluralistic manner moderates are trying to suggest. For instance, all the ten commandments that make reference to "thy neighbour" actually refers fellow Jew. Same thing with Islam when talking about brotherhood.

Probably, if a) Hell existed and an all-loving God was hypocritical enough to send his creations to it and b) We are allowed to protest, God might see it as blasphemy.

Why would Ghandi be in Hell?
I think a good Christian wants every soul to get to heaven, so I'm sure we all care.
Don't worry we'll pray for you :)
