I had to think about this one for a second.

Traditionally, no. You're not paid for volunteer work. To volunteer means that you're giving freely of your own time to help others without expecting any sort of monetary compensation. In other words, you're not going to EVER receive any sort of hourly wage for volunteering.

What I think you might be referring to would be something like Americorps' VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program. When you're volunteering as a VISTA, you are making a commitment to a certain number of hours over the course of a year (It works out to something like about 30 hours a week), at the end of the year, you either receive money to help with education, or a stipend of about $4,000 (US Dollars) for your years' service.

The main benefit to becoming a VISTA volunteer is that you can help pay for continuing education.

For more information, you can go to http://www.americorps.org and click on the VISTA section.

I hope this helps.

For some, you have to pay them to volunteer! Be careful, because there are tons of volunteer agencies in foreign countries, but some just take advantage of people. I would talk to people who have done this and ask them about their experiences- or do volunteer work in your local community. It's a great way to meet people and get varied experience related to what you might want to do for a living.

Usually Volunteer work does not pay unless they hire u where u are volunteering , then u are on the payroll.
U may get donations for some volunteer work like Redcross or Salvation Army or the local rescue squad or fire department.

Volunteer work is self explained. You volunteer for a service you will provide. Most are non pay accounts. Type in search , volunteer work that is available.

Volunteer=No pay

Some organizations like Doctors Without Borders make YOU pay to volunteer. You must pay for your own airfare and other expenses. There are other volunteer organizations that are dispatched to help people during a disaster that require you to pay for your training and lodging, but you don't get paid for your time.

some volunteer work you do get paid for, but it's usually not very much. You'd get paid for donating platelettes because it takes so much time. Most volunteer jobs you don't get paid for though... if you're looking for volunteer work look in your local newspaper, or on your city website

To volunteer means to do it without pay, as a public service.

Volunteer work is unpaid. But, you can become an employee of an agency that uses volunteers, and then you can be paid to organize the volunteers.
