My cats do the same to me. I think they do this because they are bored and think that if they follow me everywhere, something interesting might happen. Second and kind of icky, cats often smell the bums of other cats they are friendly with when they haven't seen them for a while. Maybe they are trying to do the same to us in the bathroom. Also, my cats love toilets in general. They love to play with the water and watch when I flush the toilet. We joke that they think it's a magic fountain.

Cats tend to want attention from the people who feed them and so they follow those people around everywhere. They also have a thing for the unknown and since she doesn't get to be in there normally, she likes feeling like she's unearthing a secret. Kind of like how they always dart into the closet the second you open the door. It's not weird; my cat does the exact same thing.

Because cats must always be the center of attention, remember. You aren't giving your undivided attention to him and he wants it NOW so he's going to follow you! Same reason why cats lay on the newspaper or magazine you are reading.

Why don't you put it in a different room when you go to the bathroom?? I am sure it won't even know you went there.

My cat does the same thing. It's because my cat loves me very much, she is very affectionate and she wants attention from me all the time. Probably same goes for you!

since cats are animals, they tend to have a higher sense of smell compared to humans. Your cat likes you and the since he characterizes your smell to being next to you, he likes to "smell" you in a higher level through smelling your urine or your poo. We may smell only the foul odor but they don't really notice that as much as the "our smell". or maybe you only have more time for him inside the lavatory since you are not distracted by tv, pc or the telephone. that's the only place he knows in which he has your 100% attention. ;-)

in our house it's where we hold the family meetings every morning! one bath house and the ol' lady goes 1st, then it's my turn, there is a bit of over lap. i can't tell you how many times we have had to clean tooth paste off of stray tails. why they have to pick the smallest room in the house i'll never know!!

Cats' eyesight isn't that great and so they relay on smell to tell them who everyone is. That's way cats rub themselves on your legs to make you smell like them. When you go to the bathroom you strengthen your own smell and the breath it in to know who you are and then want to put their smell on top of yours. Because cats consider you their property.
